After collaborating with JR (interviewed) in Paris on some meaningful pieces (covered), Os Gemeos traveled to Milan to paint the inaugural mural for the “Outside the Cube” project. Taking advantage of the shape of the Pirelli HangarBicocca building where trains were built in the twentieth century, as well as referencing from the close proximity of railway lines running parallel to the site, the two brothers decided to paint one of their iconic yellow-skinned characters hanging from the back of a subway car. The Brazilian brothers Os Gemeos are currently in Europe, working on a couple of different projects. Their first stop was in Paris where they collaborated with a long time friend and fellow artist/photographer, JR (interviewed), creating an installation in the tunnels of the Palais de Tokyo. During their stay at the French capital, the twins spent three days creating works for the ongoing Lasco Project curated by Hugo Vitrani. It’s time we do another summary of public art from around the globe with another Street World Roundup feature. Leading things off is an impressive new anamorphic mural from eL Seed that covers almost 50 buildings in the neighborhood of Manshiyat Nasr in Cairo, Egypt. Fans of the twins attending Basel Week Miami next week should add visiting the Tiroche Deleon Collection to their itinerary. Sem Titulo (Untitled) is a sculptural installation piece from Os Gemeos that features a giant head mounted on the chassis of a Volkswagen Beetle and brings to life something seen earlier in their Serenade painting. The murals are coming fast and furious now that the twins are on a roll. Hot on the heels of work in New York, Naestved, and Minsk, Os Gemeos have now moved on to Lithuania for their latest project. For the last several years, summer in Europe means a lot of street art festivals producing some amazing murals. This year, Brazilian twin brothers Os Gemeos are spending some time on the old continent, but taking a bit of a different route than majority. After recent collaborative pieces with JR and Andre Saraiva (covered), Os Gemeos rounded up their stay in NYC with a massive new mural. In town for their Parallel Connection project (covered), Brazilian twins Os Gemeos used this opportunity to create a couple of sneaky street works with their friends. They teamed up with French part-time locals, JR and Andre Saraiva, and painted some lovely pieces on the streets of SoHo in New York. Mixing their different styles and signature elements, artists were able to created a lovely collaboration. After tipping you off a few days ago about Os Gemeos’ three minutes of fame at New York’s Times Square, we now have some photos and video to share of their animation that runs from 11:57pm to midnight each night in August.
