With the second edition of POW! WOW! Long Beach successfully completed, it’s now time to review the murals painted for the event. POW! WOW! Long Beach ’16 / Streets: Update

The second edition of POW! WOW! Long Beach is underway with artists painting in the streets as well as inside the Long Beach Museum of Art for the upcoming Vitality & Verve: In The Third Dimension show (covered). Here’s a look at some of the public art going up before our eyes (map here) featuring some of this year’s participants including Andrew Hem, Cinta Vidal, Ernest Zacharevic (seen above), Felipe Pantone, Hula, Pantonio, Sarah Joncas, and Yoskay Yamamoto (see full list here). It’s been quite some time since our last Streets World Roundup feature so now’s as good a time as ever to review some of the street art around the world that you may have missed in the last few months. Streets: World Roundup (Jun 15 – Jul 6)

The time had come for another Streets World Roundup here on AM. Leading things off is a complex new work of art from Felice Varini in Hasselt, Belgium for the “De Unie Hasselt-Genk” exhibition. The spiral-like piece which plays with perspective was painted on the roofs and facades of 99 buildings and can only be properly seen from one vantage point. Take a look at more here. La Tour 13 (Paris)

Over looking the Seine, La Tour Paris 13‎ is a project curated by Mehdi Ben Cheikh from Galerie Itinerrance. During a year, the entire building was painted by 100 international street and graffiti artists, each leaving their mark with murals and installations within the 36 apartments over 9 floors and cellars. Opening to the public for a month from October 1st, the building is due to be demolished in November, making it the largest temporary street art exhibition in France.
