Openings: Augustine Kofie – “California Soul” @ Galerie OpenSpace

Over the weekend, Augustine Kofie’s showing opened in Paris at Galerie OpenSpace, his first true solo outside of the States. Openings: Bom.K – “Vertiges et Somnolence” (Paris)

French graffiti artist Bom.k has launched his first ever solo show, Vertiges et Somnolence (Dizziness & Drowsiness), at Galerie Itinerrance in Paris, showcasing a series of large scale canvases, drawings, and sculptures. With a unique way to paint with spray cans, distorting caps for an ultimate precision of the lines, the founder of the Da Mental Vaporz crew invites the viewer into his world of disturbing hybrid creatures and urban landscapes. The result is breathtaking.

Openings: “Paris Match” Group Show @ Opera Gallery (Paris)

Celebrating the 64th anniversary of French magazine Paris Match, in partnership with Opera Gallery in Paris, 19 artists paid tribute by revisiting some of their iconic covers in paintings, sculptures, photos and other mixed media. Participating artists included Speedy Graphito, C215, Blek Le Rat, The London Police, Kan, Dest, Paul Alexis, G.J. Openings: Keith Haring Retrospective – “The Political Line” @ MAM Paris

Last weekend, the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris (MAM) opened a new retrospective of the late Keith Haring’s work entitled The Political Line. On display were a staggering number of pieces, over 250 paintings and sculptural works with a focus on the importance of Haring’s art as visual activism, highlighting the diversity of his socio-political views. The exhibition will be on view through August 18th in Paris and is made possible with the support of Citizens of Humanity. Discuss Keith Haring here.

A year after the Mausolee project was revealed (covered here), the mythical Bains Douches, cradle of the Parisian night life, has been transformed in an ephemeral artistic residency curated by Magda Danyz. Closed since 2010, the site is due to be demolished on April, 30 2013.
