Streets: London Instagram Roundup

Some great street art surprises have popped up around Shoreditch since the last AM London Instagram Roundup. First up, this brilliant, huge piece by the prolific Sweet Toof and CEPT at Village Underground was exceptionally nice to see. LUDO (featured) has also been getting up with his paste-ups whilst in London for his solo show Metamorphosis at High Roller Society (covered). In addition, Australian artist Ghostpatrol has been busy collaborating with Kid Acne, Ema and Dscreet on an amazing wall in Dalston; and he has also been working with Malarky (a [...]

Openings: “European Bailout Show” @ Post No Bills

This past Thursday, Post No Bills gallery held their second gallery exhibit which featured works by the likes of Anthony Micallef, Conor Harrington, Ian Francis, Jonathan Yeo, JR, Mode 2, Paul Insect, Stanley Donwood, Vhils and Zevs. Titled as the European Bailout Show, this exhibition focused entirely on some of Europe’s most interesting artists working today. It was clear from the large number of attendees that Steve Lazarides’ new California venture continues a successful run especially after coming off the highly touted Faile show. This [...]

Streets: London Instagram Roundup

The week started off well for AM with a new piece by street artist Mobstr making an appearance on Bethnel Green Road. This massive white pasteup can be seen from a distance, causing anyone who passes to stop in their tracks. Titled Visual Pollution, the letters have been cut out so the original advert can be seen through. Also, Burning Candy member Dscreet, painted a church with one of his well known owls over the top of an original mural of Jesus. Dscreet’s owl takes on [...]

Releases / Giveaway: Paul Insect – ‘Unclear Residents’ Folio @ Pictures on Walls

AM stopped by Paul Insect’s folio release event at Pictures on Walls last week to take a look at the ‘Unclear Residents‘ set. The evening presented a series of Paul’s screen-printed targets pasted about the walls, along with the selection of prints and a huge bank of page-spreads from the two limited zines available in the hand-made folio. At the time of writing, the edition of 80 sets seems to be close to sold out, with just 3 sets remaining. The scrapbook ‘Beat the Devils‘ and the [...]

Showing: Lazarides’ “Hell’s Half Acre” at the Leake Street Tunnels

One of the most notable stops in our hectic journey through London was Lazarides’ “Hell’s Half Acre” group exhibition. The pop-up show was located in the eerie tunnels of Leake Street (AKA the Old Vic Tunnels where the Cans Festival was held). The dark catacombs were the perfect setting to host this amazing group show that featured signature works from artists such as Ian Francis, David Choe, Conor Harrington, Antony Micallef and Jonathan Yeo. One of the stand out pieces from the show was Paul [...]

Teaser: Lazarides – “Hell’s Half Acre” @ The Old Vic Tunnel

Opening next Tuesday, Hell’s Half Acre, is a unique concept show organized by London-based Lazarides around the theme of Dante’s “Inferno”, interpreted as “hell” in the influential author’s Italian tongue. Fittingly hosted deep within the underground catacombs known as The Old Vic Tunnels, the impressive roster of artists – including such LAZ favorites as Vhils, Antony Micallef, Ian Francis and David Choe, just to name a few – has been tasked with interpreting the nine circles of hell as postulated within the epic 14th-century poem [...]

Openings: “Get Rich Quick!” Group Exhibition @ Carmichael Gallery

Last night, the Carmichael Gallery in Hollywood pulled no punches with their all-star show, “Get Rich Quick!,” showcasing the strongest talents in the street and urban art genre. Some scorching hot pieces lined the gallery’s walls for the exhibition, including: a rare Banksy canvas, a KAWS ad disruption, boxes and screen-printed collages from Faile, to originals by Barry McGee and Micallef and much more. Visiting the gallery was like seeing a modern day museum retrospective of the last five years in urban art. Truly amazing. AM has all the [...]
