Last weekend, the Ivory & Black showspace in London hosted the opening for Pedro Matos’ new body of work entitled Heritage. With a series of large paintings (including tondos) and a cluster of smaller pieces, the focus of the Portuguese artist was on his personal and cultural heritage. Opening tonight at the White Walls Gallery tonight in San Francisco will be a charity show benefiting the Oceanic Awareness Collaboration. Contests / Releases: Pedro Matos – “Leaves of Grass”

Pedro Matos, who recently showed at the Shooting Gallery in San Francisco, has released a print (available here) based on one of the originals from that exhibition. Leaves of Grass is in a signed edition of 50, 24″ x 21″, and costs 90£. Portuguese artist Pedro Matos is set to open his first solo show in the United States on September 3rd at the Shooting Gallery in San Francisco. Entitled Ephemera, the new body of work features his oil on canvas paintings emulating the torn and faded posters frequently seen pasted on the side of buildings in an urban environment. It’s been a year since we last saw a solo (covered) from Lisbon based street artist Pedro Matos. It looks like he has used the time in between shows wisely getting ready for an exhibition at the Shooting Gallery in San Francisco in September. He’ll be continuing his portraiture of society’s downtrodden and neglected, but it looks like he has some new tricks up his sleeve as well judging from the preview image above.
