Streets: Pejac (London)

Precisely one month ahead of his upcoming London solo debut, Pejac has revealed his latest series of public interventions around the city. Titled Downside Up, these simple and striking installations are once again proving his ability to create an unexpected twist on common things and reality in general. The new sculptural series consists of old shoes “hanging” from light poles, signs, or other structures in an urban environment. However, Pejac’s shoes defy gravity and hang as if down is up and up is down. Like […]

Releases: Pejac – “Wound” Print

After returning from an inspiring trip to Jordan (covered), Pejac spent the last couple days finalizing his upcoming print release, Wound. Showing an ice breaker leaving a bloody scar as it roams the frozen ocean, it’s one of the works by the Spanish artist that speaks to major environmental issues. Through a minimalist approach, using a limited color palette and lots of negative space to accent the message, Pejac created an emotive image that speaks volumes. Symbolizing the irreparable damage to the environment caused by human behavior, Wound is one of […]

Streets: Pejac (Azraq Camp / Amman, Jordan)

After recently creating new works in the Al-Hussein Palestinian refugee camp in Amman, Jordan (covered), Pejac continued travelling around Arab kingdom while creating more refugee focused works. Reviewed here are the pieces the Spanish artist painted in Azraq Camp and on the streets of Amman. The piece painted in Amman was inspired directly by Jordan’s ongoing hospitality and acceptance towards others. In times when EU countries are putting barbed wire on their borders, the fact that a country of 9,5 million inhabitants is currently providing shelter to 2 million Palestinians, 1.4 million Syrian refugees and thousands of […]

Streets: Pejac @ Al-Hussein Refugee Camp (Jordan)

After spending months locked in his Barcelona studio working on an upcoming London solo show, Pejac recently flew to Middle East to create more thought provoking work. Always ready to tackle sensitive subjects in a subtle yet powerful way, his first stop was Al-Hussein, a Palestinian refugee camp in Amman, Jordan. Originally established back in 1948 as a result of the Arab-Israeli war, the camp provided shelter to the refugees who fled or were expelled during the Palestinian exodus. Almost 70 year since its opening, […]

Installation / Videos: Pejac – “Heavy Sea”

We’ve seen Pejac paint large indoor murals, small street pieces, window drawings, install sculptural works in public, create visual illusions on facades and walls, but we never seen him turn his paintings into reality. Until now. The Spanish artist just shared his latest project, Heavy Sea, titled after his watercolor painting from a few years ago depicting a lifesaving ring on top a tire dump. Recently, he came across a location that looked pretty much exactly like the one he drew, so he decided to re-create the image in […]

Upcoming: Pejac (London Solo Show)

We don’t get to see often enough artists who produce striking and clever street works who have equally effective if not stronger studio pieces. If you liked the street pieces that Spanish artist Pejac has been creating around the globe, you’ll surely enjoy the latest series of works he’s been creating for his upcoming London show. Still playing his cards close to his chest, the Barcelona-based artists didn’t reveal the time or location of the show yet, but the body of work he’s been working on looks promising. […]

Releases: Pejac – “Meadow” Print

After his recent Asian tour that included Hong Kong (covered), Seoul (covered) and Tokyo (covered), Pejac returned to his studio in Barcelona to work on his next limited edition release. The image he chose for this release is a black and white version of his large canvas, Meadow,  that he painted earlier this week. Depicting a startled lonely deer in a meadow made of arrows, it is a nice example of his simple visual language that carries a deeper, more complex message. While plain at first, the […]

Streets: Pejac (Tokyo)

After stopping in Hong Kong (covered) and Seoul (covered), Pejac finished his Asian tour with the most anticipated part of his trip – Tokyo. In his previous works, the Spanish artist has often used elements from Japanese culture, so it was very interesting to see how the land of the cherry blossom, samurais, etc will inspire him. While mostly focusing on paying respect to their tradition and rich culture, some of the works he created pointed out some negative aspects of modern Japan. During his stay in the Japanese capital, Pejac […]

Streets: Pejac (Seoul)

After recently visiting Hong Kong (covered), Pejac recently stopped in Seoul while continuing his Asian tour. Seeing as this was his first time in the country, the Spanish artist used this opportunity to leave his mark around the South Korean capital. Armed with only a brush and a cup of paint, he created some more window works in his hotel room, as well as two street pieces influenced by the land and culture he’s in. Icarus is an image Pejac introduced a while ago in the form of […]

Streets: Pejac (Hong Kong)

We just received these photos of new works by Pejac created few days ago in Hong Kong. The artist who is known for his witty concepts recently spent a few days in a former British colony leaving several diverse works throughout the city. Tackling the problems of overpopulation and limited rights, the “Umbrella Revolution” as well as Chinese tradition, most of the works were very small in scale but large in their message. This once again shows the strength of public art in it’s most basic form. Re-thinker […]
