POW! WOW! Long Beach ’18: Papercut Lounge

As part of this year’s POW! WOW! Long Beach (more coverage here) the Papercut Lounge worked with a group of artists to make zines available to festival attendees (which you can still purchase online here). The popup space not only served as a shop but also featured a cascading installation of books by Olga Lah and a large painting from Brendan Monroe as well as hosted the kickoff and closing party for the week-long, city-wide event. Showing: “You Are Welcome Here: Paintings by Paul Wackers” @ Morgan Lehman 2

Currently in New York at Morgan Lehman’s auxiliary space (526 West 26th Street, 4th Floor), there is a small popup show of Paul Wacker’s work on view. Running from March 8-10, the short term exhibition will feature a book launch party Friday night (5 – 8 pm) featuring Wacker’s newest book – You Are Welcome Here. The gorgeous new 239 page monograph includes much of his work from last 10 years, his modern take on still life portraits. Discuss Paul Wackers here.

Paul Stolper Gallery in London recently announced a must-have release for all the Damien Hirst fans and collectors out there. Today, they released his Schizophrenogenesis book together with Other Criteria, available in both regular and limited edition. The book covers Hirst’s Schizophrenogenesis series which was shown with the gallery back in October of 2014. Pirelli HangarBicocca recently released a new book documenting the creation of Os Gemeos’ intervention for their Outside the Cube project (covered). Efêmero includes exclusive photo documentation of the project along with text by project curator Cedar Lewisohn as well as an overview of the duo’s most important artworks. The large mural that was painted over the course of only several days (back in April of 2016) was dedicated to the mother of the famous Brazilian art twins. World renowned artist, photographer and skateboarder (or the other way around), Ed Templeton, recently released a new book of photographs with Nazraeli Press. Memories of the Salt… takes us along on a 5-day family roadtrip from Pismo Beach to San Francisco via Santa Cruz, through black-and-white and color photographs. Publications: Barbara Kruger x New York Magazine Cover

For their election issue, New York Magazine turned to someone who they had worked with in the past, Barbara Kruger, to design the cover. Utilizing a variation of what is arguably her most iconic text-based work, the influential artist pasted a large red bar with the word “LOSER” across the face of Donald Trump.
