Releases: Esao Andrews / Contrast 15: Emotional Connection

Those interested in the gothic surreal imagery of Esao Andrews might want to get their hands on a copy of Contrast Magazine. The latest issue features a nice full color cover with one of the Los Angeles-based artist’s reoccurring images, various iterations of a ghostly ship. Inside the Hawaii-based publication you will find a nice spread of Andrews’ work along with a lengthy interview. Baby Tattooville ’15: Secret Store

Always one of the things attendees look forward to, Baby Tattooville’s Secret Store opened last night at 9pm sharp. Psychedelic Space is the soon to be released book from Kelsey Brookes from Gingko Press that explores his last three years of work. The 216 page hardcover documents his more recent paintings, spanning four solo shows, the explosive patterns that are his artistic vision of molecular structures of the psychedelic nature. Tran Nguyen Smithsonian Magazine Cover

Tran Nguyen, whose work we last enjoyed in person up in Seattle (covered), recently worked on a cover for Smithsonian Magazine. The current issue, which we took a snap of at our local Barnes & Noble, features the artist’s illustration for the story of the fall and rise and fall of Pompeii, referencing the fact of how the archeological treasures are falling into a state of scandalous decline. 1xRun recently teamed up with Roger Gastman to create an extensive monograph for one of the most legendary LA writers and graffiti icon RISK (interviewed). The Detroit-based publisher released these 350 page hardcover books on July 17th, coming either with a limited edition print or original artwork. After Melbourne, LA and NY, the next show on Søren Solkær‘s Surface world tour opened Friday June 12th at Øksnehallen in Copenhagen. The exhibition in his hometown is the largest on the world tour, covering a 3,500 square meter area, which provided a great setting for a major street art related event.
