Signings: Mark Ryden – “The GAY 90s & Pinxit” @ PK Shop

At the beginning of the month, AM paid the PK Shop a visit to attend the signing of two monographs from Mark Ryden. The newer of the two, The Gay 90s, published by Rizzoli, illustrates the works included Ryden’s 2010 exhibition The Gay 90s: Old Thyme Art Show at Paul Kasmin Gallery (covered) while Pinxit by Taschen is a more comprehensive overview of the low brow luminary’s paintings organized by the themes of his major exhibitions. Preview / Giveaway: Nils Müller “Vandals” Book Release

German photographer Nils Müller recently published his second book titled Vandals with the official release on the May 1st, which will be followed by a gallery show at Ruttkowski68 (Cologne, Germany) opening on May 24th. Similar to his last book Blütezeit, published back in 2008, this latest volume covers the rarely exposed lives of urban vandals, and is released in regular and limited edition (limited to 500 signed copies now available for pre-order). It’s been a while since we first announced the release of KAWS’ COMPANION: PASSING THROUGH figure. Releases: Josh Keyes x Tiny Showcase – “Dawn II”

Continuing his collaboration with Tiny Showcase, Josh Keyes (interviewed) has chosen another image for his current print release – Dawn II. On sale through Tuesday, May 7th, the open timed release edition is available as a framed or unframed version. Yoskay Yamamoto (interviewed), whom we last hung out with in Hawaii as he painted a mural for POW WOW, recently released a sets of matching sculptures and paintings. Each is entitled a numbered my little universe with the the paintings measuring 6″ x 6″ and the sculptures each two inches in diameter. On Sunday (April 21st), at 3pm Pacific Time, Jeremy Geddes (interviewed) will be releasing a new print based on his painting Falling Echo (detail shot above). If you remember, this was first introduced in his solo show in NY last year and features one of his iconic suspended astronauts. Films: “OBEY THE GIANT” – The Story of Shepard Fairey

Last year, we shared a project with you that was asking for funding on kickstarter – the first narrative film based on the story of Shepard Fairey. As some of you may know (or even supported), the money raiser was fully funded – and now, the finished movie has been released online on the official website.
