Charity / Releases: Shepard Fairey – “Dark Wave / Rising Sun” Print

Set to release online at a random time tomorrow, March 24th, is Shepard Fairey’s (featured) new print, Dark Wave / Rising Sun. Although the image may be a little foreboding for some collectors’ taste, the proceeds do go to a good cause – the relief efforts in Japan. The run will be 700, size 18″ x 24″, and priced at $60. With his next exhibition, The Magician’s Garden (teased), right around the corner, Josh Keyes (interviewed) has taken some time out to once again teamed up with Tiny Showcase for their fifth collaborative effort to raise funds in the name of charity. Despite being imprisoned last time he was in Japan and forbidden to return, David Choe (featured) still has love for the Land of the Rising Sun. This new print (limited to 88) entitled “Red Moon” will be released today at 6 pm PST at Trapeze Editions with 100% of the proceeds going to the relief efforts in Japan. Mear One has just completed a new silk screen with Modern Multiples, to be released this Friday. It will be a hand separated, nine-color serigraph in an edition of 100, available at 1 pm PST through the Baurmann Gallery, who published the print. Remember the limited edition boxsets we told you about that will be released at the upcoming “Revolutions” show by Shepard Fairey (featured)? Now we have some photos for you of how the album cover print set is coming together. It sounds like there will be two different limited edition sets with each containing 36 signed and numbered screen prints, a sticker sheet, and a stencil in a gold leaf embossed box.
