Leading things off is an impressive new anamorphic mural from eL Seed that covers almost 50 buildings in the neighborhood of Manshiyat Nasr in Cairo, Egypt. Basel Week Miami ’15 / Showing: SCOPE

One of the first satellite fairs we hit during Basel Week Miami was SCOPE Miami, situated nicely in their pavilion on the beach off Ocean Drive. Celebrating its 15th anniversary edition with 120 international exhibitors from 22 countries and 57 cities, the fair had something for everyone including this Suck Face bronze from D*Face seen above and the Felipe Pantone installation seen directly below. Basel Week Miami ’15: RETNA // Artceleration @ Macaya Gallery

Tonight at the start of Basel Week Miami, Macaya Gallery in the heart of the Wynwood Art District held a special live painting session in conjunction with Hoerle Guggenheim. As one of three participating artists, RETNA (featured) was asked to paint a FERRARI F430 Challenge Car from ANSA Motorcars. Each impressive automobile will be auctioned with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Miami Children’s Health Foundation and Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, as well as the Interdisciplinary Stem Cell Institute at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Recap: Coney Art Walls

After a close look at the creation of three murals (Eine, Miss Van, Maya Hayuk) for the Coney Art Walls, we now have an recap of the event for you to enjoy. Several months since their opening in the Fall 2014, Chelsea gallery Hoerle-Guggenheim opened a solo show by Marquis Lewis a.k.a. RETNA (featured) on February 13th. Articulate & Harmonic Symphonies of the Soul includes the LA-based artist’s most important pieces of recent years and a selection of his newest works on canvas. Basel Week Miami ’14: Pulse

While in town for Basel Week Miami, we made sure to head north a little ways to attend the Pulse held at their new location – Indian Beach Park. The tenth edition of the  event featured some familiar names as well as many artists new to us. One of these was the sculptural works of Jorge Mayet (seen above) at the Galeria Horrach Moya booth. Showing: Modernica Chair Group Show @ Soze Gallery

Last Saturday night, Soze Gallery in Los Angeles opened a group exhibition that highlighted the form of the Modernica chair, seen through the lens of each participant’s artistic vision. Friends and artists who show with the gallery, created custom one of a kind versions of the chair with their signature styles and techniques with part of the proceeds going to benefit The Art Of Elysium, a non-profit organization that brings empowering artistic programs to children in the local hospitals in the area. Streets: RETNA (Chicago)

For those in Chicago to enjoy Lollapalooza and The Provocateurs opening tonight, make sure you also find time this weekend to take a look at the street art associated with the group exhibition. We already touched on the curator of the show Shepard Fairey and his new mural at Columbia College, but another artist’s work to check out is Los Angeles-based writer RETNA’s (featured) piece at 33 E. Over the weekend, an exhibition to benefit CAMP2E opened at the Soze Gallery entitled Steer Ahead. Artists like Dave Kinsey (seen above), Victor Castillo, Cyrcle., Devngosha, James Haunt, Brittany Segal, Dan Quintana, Bon Nielsen, Gregory Siff, Aaron De La Cruz, Paige Smith, Kristin Bauer, RETNA, Sarah Sandin, Aaron De la Cruz, Bone Thrower, Cole Sternberg, and Fidia Falaschetti were asked to customize and paint real steer skulls and display it along with original artwork. The Fabergé Big Egg Hunt (New York)

Kicking off yesterday, the Fabergé Big Egg Hunt features egg sculptures customized by 260 artists, designers, photographers, architects and other creatives, some seen regularly here on AM. This event is a followup to the successful hunts held in London in 2012 and Dublin in 2013. An app has been created that will allow participants in the search to check in each time an egg is found, with the location hidden until 10 people discover it (prizes will be given out).
