The Manifest Hope: DC exhibition, showcasing the spirit of the grass-root artist movement, officially opened it’s doors Saturday morning, but Friday night, select VIPs and friends were invited to preview the pop-up gallery.  The packed house reflected the energy that is currently flowing into the nation’s capital for Inauguration.  With the crew working hard to put the 11th hour finishing touches on the exhibition prior to the unveiling, the inspired looks from the audience once curtains came up made the week long marathon set-up all worthwhile! AM took […]

Openings: Ron English/Alex Pardee @ Fifty24SF

Ron English’s “Mythographic Vicissitudes” (previewed) and Alex Pardee’s “Letters From Digested Children” opened last night at Fifty24SF. English reinterpreted some “myths” with this body of work showing off his skills by utilizing different styles of painting.  Alex Pardee took on the serious topic of missing children by creating a body of work showing children who are eaten by monsters. AM friend Rhinomilk was able to stop by and snap some pics for our readers. Photos after the jump.

Already revved up from the Gen Art Vanguard Gala (Here)… Friday night got even more crazy as DJ Diabetic and Ztrip tag teamed the turntables for a packed Shore Club in South Beach. Shepard gave back in his usual gracious fashion as he threw a party for all his friends and fans. It’s A New Day – will.i.am

A new celebration video for Obama came out recently by will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas.  What’s interesting is that alot of the street art and iconic images from his campaign were incorporated from artists such as Shepard Fairey, Ron English, and even Josh Keyes (not sure why?).  Also stopped by Subliminal Projects last night to see the “Letters and Ligatures” show and chatted a little with Shepard Fairey and he told us that some of the video was filmed on the roof and around […]

Ron English Abraham Obama Bust

Got an email this morning from Mindstyle about the release of Ron English’s Abraham Obama Bust. Along with Shepard Fairey’s work, the Obama x Abraham Lincoln remix by English would probably be one of the top two most iconic Obama images out there. There will be multiple colorways released with each one limited to 50. More info after the jump.

Openings: Ron English @ Shooting Gallery

Ron English’s show “The Secret History of KISS” (previewed) opened last weekend at the Shooting Gallery. He took the band’s trademark face paint and melded it with baroque era-styled paintings for an unexpected effect. It’s like he used a time machine, took Rembrandt hostage, and forced him to add the iconic makeup to his paintings. This show also reminded us as to how amazing and versatile Ron’s technical skills are. More photos after the jump.
