After a close look at the creation of three murals (Eine, Miss Van, Maya Hayuk) for the Coney Art Walls, we now have an recap of the event for you to enjoy. This Saturday, May 23rd, CHG Circa in Culver City will be opening a group show entitled Product Displacement. Participants were asked to consider the “interruption” of the media and arts by the insertion of commercial advertising when creating a piece for the show. Earlier this month, Ron English (featured) intruded something new produced by ToyQube entitled Temporal Boxing Brain. Based on one of the NY-based artist’s paintings, the sculptural release is a good example of his wit as well as penchant for creative remixing of common items and pop culture. Over the weekend, Ron English (featured) made the most of his turn at the iconic Bowery & Houston wall in New York with a mural that was wheatpasted then hand finished with paint. The imagery chosen is a good representation of his work with the background being the American flag made up of modified company logos and slogans that speak to English’s satirical attack on consumerism, while the center features one of his most recognized surreal characters – the Temper Tot or “Baby Hulk.” Take a look at more photos and a […]

Constantly expanding their brand of street art inspired fun based in Hawaii, POW! WOW!’s latest adventure takes them to a satellite event at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas. Following the success of the 2014 exhibition Futurismo Ancestral: An Offering to Peru by Sixe Paredes (covered), the collaborative arts organization Approved by Pablo curated a new exhibition entitled Mapping The City in London, running until 15 February. Tonight in New York, the Tribeca Grand Hotel will be ringing in the New Year’s with a Popaganda Artist Ball.
