As we gear up for the coming festivities of Art Basel Miami 2014, let’s look back at one of the impressive exhibitions held at the M Building by Galerie Eva Presenhuber during last year’s week of art madness. Artist Sam Falls had an excellent solo exhibition in which he showcased his multifaceted talents, ranging from his rope dye paintings and sculptures to his large scale lattice works that spanned the entire length of the M Building’s double height ceilings. It was an awesome display of […]

Showing: Sam Falls @ Hannah Hoffman Gallery

Now showing through October 25th at the Hannah Hoffman Gallery in Los Angeles is a new body of work from Sam Falls, whose sculptural pieces were also recently displayed MetroTech Center in Brooklyn (covered). What interests fans of this young LA-based artist with a rising star is not just the imagery he produces but his methodology behind it. For these new “paintings,” Falls gathered vegetation from his current house in Venice (palm fronds, birds of paradise), his childhood home in Vermont (ferns), and the woods around his other residence in […]

Openings: Sam Falls – “Light Over Time” @ MetroTech Center

Entitled Light Over Time, this exhibition held in the MetroTech Center courtyard clearly brings Fall’s installation magic into the outdoor setting. There are five sculptural works placed in select locations that invite the viewer to interact with the pieces. Whether it’s a tetris-like bench that changes color depending on the temperature or a large wind chime that can be rung, it’s pretty fitting to enjoy Fall’s simple design […]
