Streets: Sam3 & Liqen Collab in Spain

We had just been introduced to Liqen and one of his collaborations recently and here we already see him creating another joint mural, this time with Spanish compatriot Sam3. This piece in Pontevedra, entitled Sirena II, has one of Liqen’s fanciful monochromatic white works taking a little swim with clusters of Sam3′s signature shadow people. See the whole mural and some detailed shots after the jump…

Streets: Sam3 for Insitu Festival (Spain)

After doing some good work for this year’s Fame Festival, Sam3 moves on to another gathering of street artists, this time in Spain. The new Insitu Festival (see Escif’s piece), the brainchild of Madrid artist San, was held in walled city of Cáceres, Spain – a city known for their stork’s nests of all things. When taken in that context, this beautiful piece from the master of the silhouettes begins to make more sense. A closer look at this mural after the jump, as well [...]

Fame Fest ’10: Sam3

As the September opening of this year’s Fame Festival (our coverage) draws closer, another artist has left his imprint on the city walls. Master of the shadows, Madrid-based Sam3, has made his way over to Grottaglie after working with Blu & Os Gemeos on a project in Lisbon. Look at this beautiful and delicate piece he threw up, “balanced” perfectly on a ladder. Of course, he also painted his iconic black silhouettes as well as worked on the signature medium associated with the festival – ceramics.  Photos [...]

Streets: Os Gemeos, Blu, and Sam3 (Lisbon)

It looks like the mural collaboration between Os Gemeos and Blu that we showed you a couple days ago has been completed. Check out the awesome man with the crown of oil company logos sucking the world dry painted by Blu, pretty timely considering what is going on in the Gulf of Mexico. Take a look at more pics after the jump including a bonus mural by Sam3 on a neighboring building.

Video / Releases: Sam3 Valentine’s Prints

Last we saw Sam3, he was hard at work with his signature silhouette technique at the Fame Festival last year. Unexpectedly, the Spanish street artist has come up with some gems for this Valentine’s Day all infused with his special brand of humor. Check out the video above with your significant other, then gift them one of the 50 sets of prints (they come in three) of stills from the animation with the the black layer screenprinted and the red one is hand-drawn by the [...]

FAME Festival: JR, Judith Supine, Ericailcane, Sam3

Things have been busy over at FAME Festival since we last gave a report (see our coverage here). Ericailcane has finished up a new mural, Judith Supine has put up his first piece, and JR and Sam3 have created some fantastic new prints (see JR’s above). Fans of the French artist may recall the original piece from the “Self Portraits” show at Circle Culture (previewed and covered). Take a look at the new work from Judith, Ericailcane and Sam3 after the jump.

FAME Festival: Sam3

We are always happy to see more photos from FAME Fest. Here is a new selection of pieces by Sam3. Check out that great Ericailcane piece from last year’s event peeking out from under the arch as he works! We love this beautiful monastery that the artists have been painting in; it really makes the work come alive. Read the rest of our coverage of FAME Fest here. More pics after the jump.

FAME Festival: Mark Jenkins, Sam3, and Vhils

Mark Jenkins is shaking things up at FAME Festival (covered here). AM’s favorite tape sculptor has grabbed Grottaglie’s attention with an impressive installation on one of the town’s characteristically charming buildings.  As director Angelo Milano describes it, “Everybody was cool and smiling, including the old lady screaming, “Ggiovine!?! Ggiovvine!! Ascinne!” (English: “Hey boy!?! Hey boy!! Get down!”)

Teaser: FAME Festival 2009

Studio Cromie just announced their lineup for “FAME Festival 2009,” an outdoor art event held from June through September in which street and contemporary artists from across the globe descend on Italy to create some spectacular murals across the city of Grottaglie. The festival will draw to a close on September 19th with a group show featuring new work from the participating artists, print and book releases, as well as a tour around town to see all the artwork. This year’s lineup includes: Blu, Conor [...]
