NuArt ’15 / Openings: Nuart Exhibition @ Tou Scene

After short speeches by festival organizers and benefactors, as well as the town’s mayor, the 2015 NuArt exhibition officially opened Saturday night at Tou Scene in Stavanger, Norway. As part of the 2015 NuArt Festival, Canadian painter Sandra Chevrier (interviewed) created the inaugural mural for The Aftenblad Wall in Stavanger, Norway. Festival 2015. The wall is a partnership between NuArt and the Stavanger Aftenblad newspaper, and will provide selected Norwegian and international artists with a prominent public space on which to display their art. AM has arrived in Stavanger on Norway’s western coast to experience firsthand the city’s annual celebration of street art that is the NuArt Festival. Showing: “Different Strokes” @ Hin Bus Depot (Penang)

Showing through April 11th at the Hin Bus Depot in Penang, Malaysia is Different Strokes, a group show curated by Giancarlo Petrucci of Graffiti Prints. The exhibition includes contributions from Ernest Zacharevic, Sandra Chevrier, Icy and Sot, Martin Whatson, Beejoir, Alexface, BON, Snik, Nafir, Sabek, Levalet, Roamcouch, and Gabriel Pitcher. Last weekend in Los Angeles, alongside Robert Williams’ amazing new exhibition (covered), a group show celebrating 20 years of Juxtapoz also opened to the public. Last night, POW! WOW! Hawaii kicked things off with a group show curated by Thinkspace at the Honolulu Museum Of Art School (111 Victoria Street). Basel Week Miami ’13: Pulse

One of the long-time satellite fairs we always check out during Art Basel Week in Miami is Pulse. As in previous years, the fair was held at The Ice Palace, just south of Wynwood, and consisted of a wide range of domestic and international galleries, including New Image Art, Martha Otero, Yancey Richardson and Mixed Greens.
