Previews: ‘Rewire’ @ Gamma Transport Division (Edinburgh)

Art and music have long enjoyed a reciprocal relationship. Take the album cover for example. For years, musicians have found or commissioned visual artists to portray an aesthetic that resonates with the contents of the sleeve resulting in a complete aural and visual package. Gamma Proforma’s forthcoming exhibition and project Rewire flip reverses this process with a collection of artworks produced by visual artists forming the inspiration for a series of sonic interpretations of the artworks by musicians. A perfect fit for Gamma Proforma who […]

Rewind: July 29 – Aug 4

Another week, another Rewind feature here on AM. In our last article, we shared the trailer for JAY Z’s new video where he performed Picasso Baby, a new track off his new album at the Pace Gallery – now we have the entire video. The long session lasted six hours where the rapper showed his appreciation for art through his lyrics, name dropping left and right. You decide whether it was a “performance art film” as it was billed, but also check out all the artists that […]

Sat One & ROID Paint Boeing 737

Sat One & ROID recently came together for an enormous collaboration set up by The Hanger One Project where they were tasked with painting a Boeing 737. Battling the elements as well as fighting to get the hang of the tricky curved aluminum surface, the two European graffiti artists were able to create an epic piece that melding their styles perfectly. Take a look at more photos below as well as a video documenting the endeavor… Photo credit: HANGFIRE (via Graffart). Discuss Sat One here. Discuss ROID here.

Streets: SatOne – ‘Inner Path’ Mural (Munich)

We got to meet up with Munich based Sat One whilst he was in London recently for the Futurism 2.0 exhibition, and witnessed this gem of a wall collaboration with Roid. Now back in Munich, the hard-working street muralist has whipped up this privately commissioned little jammy entitled Inner Path. Streets: Roid & SatOne (London)

After pointing out a great collaboration recently from REVOK and RIME in Detroit, we now bring your attention to another joint mural – this time from Roid and SatOne in London where the Munich-based artist was in town participating in the Futurism 2.0 show (also see the Joker, Shok-1 and Remi Rough wall). With EndoftheLine for providing the wallspace, SatOne brought his distinctive style and combined it nicely with local star Roid’s mastery of geometric forms… Via Graffuturism. Discuss SatOne here.

Streets: World Roundup (Sept 10 – Sept 16)

Headlining our Streets: World Roundup this week is a rare extraterrestrial piece from Invader. After a failed attempt last month, he has finally lived up to namesake and invaded space with his tiled works. Launching from Miami, Florida where he is preparing for his next exhibition, the French street artist was able to send his imagery into orbit with a helium balloon fitted with a camera to document it (and GPS to retrieve it). Other murals to admire on earth this week include work from Inti – […]

Streets: Sat One – “Prisoners of the Sea” (Bulgaria)

The Munich-based Sat One recently travelled to Varna, Bulgaria to work on a multi-sided mural entitled Prisoners of the Sea. The street artist was invited by BALCANS-Magazine to wrap a tower on the top of a building which he opted to paint a selection of ships sailing and sinking through the ocean imagery. Fans in Barcelona can now see his work in the group show Homage to Moebius at Montana Gallery. Via Graffuturism.

Streets: “Urban Forms Gallery” Roundup (Poland)

The organizer of the Urban Forms Gallery project in Poland, Michael Biezynski, recently sent over some photos of the wall murals to share with our readers. It is rare to say that we enjoyed all the work from every artist that participates in various festivals or events, but in this rare case, we were quite impressed with what every artist created including some that we were not familiar with. Check out what Aryz, Remed, Kenor, M-City, Etam Crew, Sat One, and Sepe/Chazme had to offer […]
