Openings: Scott Campbell – “If You Don’t Belong, Don’t Be Long” @ OHWOW

One our stops in this past weekend’s art tour de force in NYC was Scott Campbell’s “If You Don’t Belong, Don’t Be Long”. Hailing from Miami, OHWOW Gallery created a hip Soho pop-up space that was new to AM eyes. The minty fresh location drew boatloads to the opening night festivities. Scott’s latest series of works definitely “wowed” us even more than anticipated than from our teaser and preview articles. Present were his signature cut-currency sculptures, intricate in design and often depicting objects, animals or slogans. […]

The acclaimed tattoo artist turned gallery provocateur will bring his revisioning of the US Dollar, along with a host of paintings and drawings, to NYC on April 29th for […]

Take a look at this example from one of his most popular series, “Showdowns”, where he references pop culture, frequently from the movie or TV realm, and paints confrontations […]

Openings: Scott Campbell – “Always Almost There” @ Lazarides

Tattoo and now contemporary artist, Scott Campbell, opened his show at the Shop at Lazarides recently. “Always Almost There” once again highlights the laser etched technique that Campbell is famous for using stacks of dollar bills. His three dimensional works are wonderfully textured and complex, maybe because they are cut layer by later and then glued together. This is his first major exhibition in Europe and his debut show in London. Check out more images after the jump…
