Lining the 20 kilometre path of the De Stijl Cycle Route in central Netherlands are ten new sculptures from Boris Tellegen aka Delta. Recap: Brendan Monroe – “Formations” @ Heath Ceramics (Los Angeles)

Continuing his longstanding collaboration with Heath Ceramics (also see 2014 in LA and 2015 in SF), Brendan Monroe (interviewed) recently held a showing at their Los Angeles showroom. Entitled Formations, the focus of the new body of the work was experimenting with Heath tile’s flat clay surface as a new medium for his organic patterns. Rounding out the exhibition was a selection of framed wall hangings, large and small, along with drawings and blob sculptures, some of which can still be viewed in the gallery space. Releases: Okuda – “Mickey’s Skull”

Spanish artist Okuda recently released a beautiful series of skulls featuring his distinctive patterned artwork. Produced in a run of 33, each Mickey’s Skull will come signed and numbered, measure 30x30x30cm, and feature a unique and vibrant color scheme. With just one sculptural installation dominating Gagosian’s 511 Fifth Avenue space in Manhattan, Urs Fischer makes a bold statement about the nature of life itself. Constructed with aluminum and standing more than 10 feet tall, the life-size rhinoceros seems to absorb an assortment of everyday objects like a rollaway luggage, copy machine, car door and tires, toilet, vacuum cleaner, shovel, and laptop. The Montresso Foundation in Marrakesh, Morocco is currently wrapping up their latest group exhibition which was on view from April 16th to May 31st. Showing: Mark Whalen – “Grab Bag” @ Arsham/Fieg Gallery

Arsham/Fieg Gallery in New York currently has a show from Mark Whalen on display entitled Grab Bag. The towering stack pieces are examples of the increasing more sculptural work that he has been experimenting with recently. Whalen further explains – “Lately, I have been formulating new relationships with sculptural work. Grab Bag is a new series of multi-dimensional work that presents non-traditional totems representing life’s folly. The result is familiar juxtapositions of materials, found objects, and everyday stockpiles.” Discuss Mark Whalen here.

Releases: James Jean x Staple – “Washizu” (Bone White Colorway)

If you missed out on the original release of James Jean’s (interviewed) Washizu figure last year, here’s your chance at the second iteration. Kris Kuksi x US Marine Corps – “Battles Won” Sculptures

At the end of last year, Kris Kuksi revealed a series of three sculptures he worked on for the United States Marine Corps as part of their recruitment campaign. The Battles Won set features bronzes entitled Nation’s Call, Waged In Will, and the nearly seven feet tall At Their Core (seen in more detail here), which were later donated to the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Virginia where they can be viewed.
