Daniel Arsham currently has on display his first solo presentation in Japan at Nanzuka Gallery in Tokyo, also his second in Asia following his show at Galerie Perrotin in Hong Kong last autumn (covered). Titled My First Show in Japan, Year 2044, the exhibition introduces his signature concept of “Fictional Archaeology” to local art lovers. Capturing the future from an archaeological perspective, his haunting pieces allow viewers to imagine the possibility of various everyday objects becoming artifacts of the future – from technical gadgets such as cameras, players, phones to “fossilized” humans themselves. Showing: Eric Yahnker – “Noah’s Yacht” @ Zevitas Marcus

Last weekend, Zevitas Marcus in Los Angeles hosted the opening of a new solo show from Eric Yahnker. Noah’s Yacht features works created from colored pencils and graphite on paper, rendered with the locally-based artist’s continued clever commentary on issues that afflict our society today touching on topics like the current election cycle and police violence. Rounding out the show are various sculptural works, installations, and conceptual pieces all showing his versatility and knowledge of pop culture and the social-political climate, often times intermixing the two. Last month Slow Culture moved from LA’s Highland Park to Chinatown, and on March 4th, they opened the PDFW: Performance. Drawing. Film. Writing. group show by THE DFW crew. Curated by Barry Mcgee and made possible with support from Obey and Vans, the show marks a new phase for the secret international art club that is DFW. Yoskay Yamamoto Installation @ interTrend

Over the course of last week, Yoskay Yamamoto (interviewed) set up an installation at ad agency and supporter of the arts interTrend in Long Beach. The piece entitled wish you were here… was originally part of a show at the Japanese American National Museum in Little Tokyo that has now been reconfigured in two parts for the new space. In January, Joshua Liner Gallery hosted a great dual exhibition from New York artists Josh Sperling & Sam Friedman. Entitled From the Cradle to the Grave, this showcase put together two lifelong friends with roots spanning to their youthful days.
