Basel Week Miami ’12: LeBasse Projects @ PULSE

It’s time to start winding down our Basel Week Miami coverage here on AM with another look at the PULSE art fair (highlights here). We’ve already shared photos from a couple booths there (Joshua Liner & Jonathan LeVine), and there is a look at a third booth – LeBasse Projects. Openings: KAWS – “Imaginary Friends” @ Galerie Perrotin

Officially opening their doors just hours ago, Galerie Perrotin in Paris unveiled all new works from the NY-based KAWS in his highly anticipated solo Imaginary Friends. Highlights of the show included multiples of his running chum canvases (also replicated as showcards making a nice souvenir) as well as creatively-shaped irregular piece that appeared to be mirrored in a more conventional painting right next to it – leading to an interesting side by side comparison. Invader x Jason deCaires Taylor Collaboration

After invading space, finally living up to his full name, Space Invader has decided to explore another frontier – the underwater realm.  With an assist from Jason deCaires Taylor, whose underwater sculptural coral reefs and photography was featured in a recent show in New York, the French street tilist has affixed his classic imagery on the side of one of the reefs in Cancun adding another exotic locale notch to his belt of conquest. Preview: Brian Viveros & Dan Quintana – “Desensitized” @ Copro Gallery

Brian Viveros and Dan Quintana are set to open a dual show tonight entitled “Desensitized” with collaborative (like the painting above) and individual works. In what seems to be a perfect match in styles, both artists will be bringing their cigarette-smoking, gun-slinging, bad-ass women to Copro Gallery for all to worship and enjoy.
