Streets / Update: Escif (Part II)

On a torrid pace since our update only a week ago, Spanish street artist Escif has uploaded many new walls for his fans’ viewing pleasure. Painting with imagery that possesses a simplicity yet curious touch that makes the viewer wonder what the back story is or what the artist is trying to get across, the Valencia-based muralist continues to plaster his homebase with his work, sometimes accompanied with a short phrase or word. More photos after the jump…

Streets: Shepard Fairey (Brooklyn)

After Shepard Fairey hit up the streets of Manhattan last summer, he made a stop in the borough of Brooklyn as well. AM rode along to catch Mr. Obey working spots both big and small while him and his crew went to work on their community beautification campaign. We saw him push through a number of mediums, from his detailed hand-painted wheatpastes to his newer stencils without tire. Check out all the action captured for us by Joe Russo after the jump.

Streets: Cyrcle. – “Winter” (Los Angeles)

Last time we saw the Cyrcle. crew working the streets, they created a large scale mural in Culver City (covered), the same spot occupied by such street art luminaries such as Herakut, David Flores and recently Dabs Myla. But now the trio of young artists have moved closer to the  Downtown area of Los Angeles and have finished another wall project which may not be as big as their previous one but one which strongly continues to uphold the strong thematic qualities they’re known for […]

Streets: Hyuro (Spain)

Another quality mural on the streets has surfaced from Argentinian-born and now Spain-based artist Hyuro. It seems she is maintaining her strong work ethic since her solo show in Zurich at the end of last year with this new piece in Valencia, another wall we just featured last week, and some gallery work for a New York group show. One more look at this wall after the jump…

Streets: Eine (Mexico)

Street typography connoisseur, Ben Eine, recently paid a trip to Mexico to get up on some walls. With almost a month to paint his signature lettering, the UK-based artist has done alot of damage so far with more to come. In particular, a long piece that spells out “The Bread Of The Rich Is The Struggle Of The Poor” caught out eye. See that piece and more after the jump…

Streets: World Roundup (Jan 16 – Jan 22)

Leading off this week’s summary of wall offerings from around the world is this piece from the duo from Brooklyn – Faile. We’ll be posting up an interesting interview from the two soon, but for now take a look at other notable murals from artists Ludo (Italy) – who has a show at Wunderkammern that opened last night, Sam3 (Spain), John Fekner (Atlanta), 36Recyclab (France), Isaac Cordal (Spain), Kid Acne (UK), MAR & MADSTEEZ (Los Angeles), DAL x Faith47 (New York), Alexandrine Deshayes (France), Triángulo […]

Streets: David Choe, DVS-1, Joseph To (Denver)

After hitting up the new Facebook headquarters at the behest of Mark Zuckerberg, David Choe (featured) headed over to Mile-High City for the Terminal Kings project at the Denver International Airport. While that event (more on this later) also features the work of Sam Flores and Highgraff, David also brought along his friends, artists DVS-1 and Joseph To, to get in on the fun with some high energy collaborations. More photos after the jump…

Streets: El Mac x Augustine Kofie (Los Angeles) – Part I

Not too long ago, the collaboration between artists El Mac and Augustine Kofie (featured) produced a spectacular mural that took place at the KROQ studios in Los Angeles, California (covered). It was a project which greatly combined the talent of these two artists to produce a music-themed mural. Now the two have once again come together to produce a mural which not only displays their incredible technique but more importantly, it is a project which pays respect to their late friend DASH 2000, a former member […]

Streets: Bumblebee – “Mutual Feeling” (Los Angeles)

As if they do not have enough problems in their lives already, the homeless in Southern California have had quite the struggle recently, ranging from being beaten by a famous frozen yogurt purveyor to being targeted, stalked, and killed by a military vet. News stories like these bring to the forefront that being homeless is still a very real problem for many and it does not only affect men and women that are down on their luck. Young boys and girls are also affected by […]

David Choe Paints Tribute To Beaten Asian Teen

By now, everyone has probably seen the video that went viral which showed a group of people brutally beating a Chicago teenager. Thankfully, it sounds like the Asian victim of the racially motivated attack appears to not have sustained serious injuries. David Choe (featured) recently painted this tribute mural to hopefully bring attention to this issue as well as get some of these cowards put in jail if they can be recognized. See what he had to say after the jump…
