Spending a week together in Berlin, Telmo Miel and James Bullough worked on a stunning new piece (located Bernburger Straße 35) that blends the work of the street artists together perfectly. Painting the large wall for the Berlin Mural Fest with the “Unity” concept proposed by Urban Nation in mind, the Dutch duo mixed their patchy & segmented imagery with the locally-based Bullough’s glitchy portraiture in a way the matches their styles up amazingly well. Take a look are more photos below… Discuss Telmo Miel here. Discuss James Bullough here.

Recently in the Netherlands, Leon Keer created five street pieces in memory of M.C. Escher in the city of his birth – Leeuwarden. Painted in the anormorphic style that he has become known for, the Dutch artist thrilled the crowds who gathered to watch his work and provided perfect photo ops for the art lovers. Keer’s chosen source of inspiration was a perfect fit for his mind-bending 3D works with Escher also known for impossible objects and plays on perspective. These works were produced with […]
Following up our previous coverage of the RAD Napa project (curated by Thinkspace and sponsored by The Napa Valley Wine Train), we now have photos from something Mars-1 (featured) painted recently. Creating a mural from his Infinite Tapestry series next to the railroad tracks, the Bay Area-based artist wove multiple globes of his bubbles together on the two part wall. The organic forms really pop against the stark black background, especially when viewed from the train. Photo & video credit: Birdman Photos. Discuss Mars-1 here.
While in town for his showing (more on this later) at Weinstein Gallery, legendary street artist Blek Le Rat spent some time working some of his stencil magic in San Francisco. Hitting several locations including the Hastings College of Law, the French artist was able make his mark on the area including conjuring up appearances of his famous rat. Take a look at some photos documenting his time on the streets below… Photo credit: Birdman Photos. Discuss Blek Le Rat here.
While in town for their current solo show at Underdogs Gallery (more on this later), PichiAvo completed a stunning new mural near the Santa Apolónia railway station utilizing their signature palette. Soaring high into the urban landscape, the multi-story mural from the Spanish duo features their signature remix of ancient Greek and Roman sculptures with their love for graffiti. With deft spraycan control, the two carefully layered urban scrawl with a classic marble bust, leading to a beautifully textured and complex wall painting. Photo credit: José […]
Continuing his longstanding work within skate culture, Andrew Schoultz recently completed a project in Las Vegas earlier this month at the skatepark at the Clark County Winchester Cultural Center. Working with his team, the Los Angeles-based artist painted the ramps, pyramids and other obstacles with his signature imagery including the all-seeing eye. In related news, Schoultz will return to the area on June 2nd when his show at UNLV’s Marjorie Barrick Museum opens. From May 4th, Palais de Tokyo in Paris will pay tribute to the history and legacy of the May 1968 events with a intervention by Escif, where he reproduced some of the famous writings from that period of student revolts. His creation completes the project, which was started in 2015 by Greek artist Stelios Faitakis, who realized two murals dedicated to the legacy of the situationist movement and civil unrest of May 1968. This intervention is part of the 10th installment of the LASCO Project (covered) curated by […]
While in town last week for the opening of his show (covered) at Galerie Itinerrance, D*Face (interviewed) was able to get up with a massive mural in the 13th arrondissement of Paris. For those keeping score, this is the second piece (also see 2017) the British street artist has painted for “Street Art 13” project organized by the gallery. Entitled Turn Coat, the new work features some of D’s signature imagery and touches like the Lichtenstein inspired look and the wings. Photo credit: Spraying Bricks. Discuss D*Face here.
Earlier this month in Belgium, the third iteration of the The Crystal Ship art festival (also see 2016 & 2017) welcomed in an international roster of artists to create murals and art installations in the coastal city of Ostend. One of the standout walls comes from Sainer (featured) of the Etam Cru entitled Podkarpacie, a painterly piece which appears to be named after a province in Poland. The stunning mural highlights Sainer’s skills when playing with soft focus and perspective, while working with a muted palette. We’ll have a recap […]
