Openings: “Pattern Recognition” @ Subliminal Projects

Last weekend, Subliminal Projects played host to “Pattern Recognition”, a group exhibition from a great set of artists including Seonna Hong, Nikki McClure, Dalek (interviewed), Richard Colman (interviewed), and Souther Salazar. Particularly eye catching for us were the colorful works of Seonna and Souther although the works of Dalek and Colman seemed to fit the premise of the show a little more closely. More opening pics after the jump…

On November 6th, Subliminal Projects will be opening a new show “Pattern Recognition”. The premise behind the title is that each artist included has in some way produced work that consists of reoccuring events or objects, not just in a literal sense though. Show up on Saturday night and you will be treated to the works of Seonna Hong, Nikki McClure, Dalek (interviewed), Richard Colman (interviewed), and Souther Salazar (some in progress works seen above). His colorful paintings of imaginary landscapes drew us in with their dream-like vibrancy and fancy. More pics after the jump…

Video: Seonna Hong – “Fountain” by Sara Lov

Check out this music video “Fountain” that Seonna Hong worked on for her friend – singer Sara Lov. Utilizing the delicate imagery and patterns from Hong (animated by Marco Morandi), the beautiful video successfullly brings her paintings to life. We are definitely looking forward to more projects like this from Hong as well as other artists we like.  Check out other successful music collaborations we have covered in the past here. The show opens alongside Jonathan Viner’s Harem” also in the gallery. Read on more details and images after the jump…
