Streets: Mark Jenkins @ Rose Beton Festival (Toulouse)

Releases: Felipe Pantone x Hennessy – V.S Cognac Bottle @ Complexcon (Chicago)

Recently at Complexcon in Chicago, Felipe Pantone was on hand to present his collaboration with Hennessy on his design for the V.S Cognac Bottle. Featuring his special form of glitch effects and optical art, the event featured original pieces, wall graphics from the project, as well as samples of the product, kicking off with the help of rapper A$AP Ferg. The Argentinian-Spanish artist follows in the line of some distinguished artists such as Kaws, Futura, Os Gemeos, Shepard Fairey, Ryan McGinness, and Scott Campbell who have previously worked on the bottle. Upcoming: Lisa Ericson – “Islands” @ Antler Gallery

Tonight in Portland at Antler Gallery, Lisa Ericson will be opening a new show entitled Islands alongside some sculptural works from Crystal Morey. Building on concepts conceived in previous body of works (LA ’18 & PDX ’18), the locally-based artist returns with more acrylic on panel paintings that feature fauna and flora, entire ecosystems, balanced on the backs of different creatures. The science-based and surreal imagery from Ericson simultaneously brings to mind the global refugee crisis and environmental issues such as global warming. Discuss Lisa Ericson here.

Showing: James Jarvis – “Throw-ups” @ NANZUKA

Opening last week, Throw-ups at NANZUKA in Tokyo marks James Jarvis’ (interviewed) first solo showing in Japan in the last four years. The exhibition continues the British artist’s laser-cut wooden relief works that were last seen earlier this year in Paris (covered), but also features a wide range of techniques including new spray paintings, colored acrylic panels, a bronze sculptural work, and of course drawings. Openings: Mr. and Pharrell Williams – ‘Call to Action’ @ Musee Guimet (Paris)

The Guimet National Museum of Asian Arts (MNAAG) in Paris, home to the largest collection of Asian arts in Europe, recently gave carte blanche to a site-specific installation created by artist Mr.. and curated by Pharrell Williams. Located on the fourth-floor rotunda beneath the dome of the main building, Call to Action runs until September 23rd. Earlier today, another leg of the Asian KAWS:HOLIDAY tour (see Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong) was unveiled at the Fumotoppara Camping Ground in Japan with the iconic Mt. Come July 20th, a beautiful show from Andrew Hem (interviewed) will close in Paris at Galerie Openspace. Fragmentz features the American artist’s dream-like imagery rendered in lush colors, a world full of natural landscapes and city scenes oftentimes inspired by his Cambodian heritage for his characters to inhabit. For his first time exhibiting in France, Hem prepared a series if 10 paintings, a selection of watercolors done on paper from his travel diaries, and a wall mural.
