Preview: Nicoletta Ceccoli – “Incubi Celesti”@ Dorothy Circus

As we mentioned in out teaser last week, Dorothy Circus will be hosting a new body of work from Nicoletta Ceccoli (interviewed) on October 29th. The show entitled “Incubi Celesti” or “Heavenly Nightmares” is a fitting name for these new paintings. Although there is always something delicate and beautiful about Nicoletta’s work, each of these new pieces has some darker aspects to them when you look closer. Openings: Chloe Early & Amy Sol – “Birdsongs & Machine Sounds” & “Dear Milky Way” @ Corey Helford

Last Saturday night, Chloe Early (interviewed) and Amy Sol (interviewed) opened their shows at the Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City. Chloe impressed with some of her largest paintings to date filled with here special mix of abstraction and realism entitled “Birdsongs & Machine Sounds”. Amy brought with her a smaller body of work, “Dear Milky Way”, that included both delicate paintings and drawings featuring her sweet characters and their harmonious relationship with nature. Openings: Audrey Kawasaki – “Tangled” @ Outre Gallery (Melbourne)

Last Friday night, Audrey Kawasaki’s (interviewed) started her set of exhibitions in Australia with a strong showing in Melbourne at the Outre Gallery. Featuring five new paintings, two of which appear to fit in nicely with her “Tangled” series of paintings, the new body of work captivated her fans who braved long lines to meet and greet their favorite artist. Openings: Swoon – “Fata Morgana” @ Galerie L.J.

Swoon’s (interviewed) newest solo show “Fata Morgana” opened in Paris last night at the Galerie L.J. An appropriate title for her show as the Brooklyn-based street artist changed the interior of the gallery like a “unusual and very complex form of mirage” with her customary immersive installations. It seems like we haven’t seen her transform a space so extensively since last year in Berlin. Openings: Invader – “Roma 2010 & Other Curiosities” @ Wunderkammern (Italy)

Last night, the invasion of Rome officially started at Wunderkammern as Invader opened his newest show “Roma 2010 & Other Curiosities” (teased). The Rome Photo Blog was on hand to document the new body of work including sculpture, his infamous tile work, photographs, and maps painstakingly detailing each and every piece the French street artist put up. Previews: Kai-lan (Karen) Chau – “Inner Dialogue” @ Sloan Fine Art

Next week, Kai-Lan (Karen) Chau will be making her fine art debut with Sloan Fine Art. The creator of the Emmy nominated hit Ni Hao, Kai-Lan will be premiering a Superflat series of works named “Inner Dialogue” (teased). The body of work will includes canvases, fiberglass sculptures, and of course prints. Another cool note is that Karen will donate all the proceeds from one of her print edition to two charities. Openings: Youtube Play – “Biennial of Creative Video” @ Guggenheim Museum NYC

Last night, AM attended the opening celebration of the Youtube Play: a Biennial of Creative Video at the  Guggenheim Museum in New York. As previewed, the 23,000 videos were filtered down to “the Shortlist“ of 125 that were then whittled down to the final 25 winners. The museum was packed with patrons and art fans attending the inaugural ceremonies.
