Recap: Joakim Ojanen – “Year of the Dog” @ Richard Heller Gallery

An exhibition entitled Year of the Dog recently closed at the Richard Heller Gallery in Los Angeles, their second solo from Joakim Ojanen. Featuring a comprehensive selection of the Stockholm-based artist’s ceramics, bronzes, charcoal drawings, and oil paintings, the show focuses in on Ojanen’s cast of characters that seem to be taken from a children’s book or Adult Swim cartoon. Recently, those walking by entrance to the Palais de Tokyo in Paris have had their attention drawn to a life size dollhouse installation by Amabouz Taturo (a pseudonym for Japanese artist Tatzu Nishi). The piece is part of the ongoing Childhood: Another banana day for the dream-fish exhibition (title take from a story by J.D. This Saturday (August 4th), Jeff Soto (interviewed) will be opening a show at the Lancaster Museum of Art & History entitled Futuregods.
