Teaser: Mike Shine @ SF MoMA

Following his recent recreations of his historic Art Shack at Art Basel Miami and the Museum of Craft and Folk Art earlier this year, Mike Shine starts off 2010 proper with yet another installation, this time at the prestigious SF MoMA.  Debuting on the eve of their 75th Anniversary Show, the “Mike Shine Show” will run from January 16th to the 17th.  Mike recently sent us a couple photos of the mural he’s working on, see the second process pic after the jump.

Update: “A Cry For Help” @ Thinkspace Gallery

We already gave you a little taste of things to come (here & here), but we just wanted to update you on the “A Cry For Help” show opening tonight at Thinkspace Gallery in Sliverlake. Preview: Krista Huot – “Nepenthe” @ Gallery 1988 (SF)

This Saturday night, January 9th, Krista Huot (interviewed) returns to Gallery 1988 in San Francisco with a new body of work. The solo show, entitled “Nepenthe” or translated as “drug of forgetfulness” mentioned in ancient Greek mythology appears to be loosely based on various fairytales such as Snow White, Alice In Wonderland, Rapunzel, Cinderella among others. Krista is also planning on painting the walls of the gallery to look like a storybook forest so we are looking forward to seeing how it all turns out. […]

Preview: John Casey – “Hope Springs Internal” @ POVevolving Gallery

John Casey, who is also known for his sculptures, will be exhibiting a series of recent drawings at the POVevolving Gallery in Los Angeles opening this Saturday. In our recent recap of Kenichi Yokono at Pulse Miami, we lamented the fact that audiences outside of LA and Tokyo rarely get the chance to see this talented artists’ work firsthand. Adam Wallacavage – Tarina Tarantino x Sephora Launch Pary

Fashion and art often intersect (Louis Vuitton x Murakami, Sprouse, and Hirst, Shu Uemura x Ai Yamaguchi, just to name a few) , so it comes as no surprise that we see Tarina Tarantino ask Adam Wallacavage to help her with the launch party of her new Sephora “Beauty Collection” set to be released in March. Teaser: Os Gemeos – “Nos Braços de um Anjo” @ Galleria Patricia Armocida

On January 25, Otavio and Gustavo Pandolfo, better known as Os Gemeos, will open “Nos Braços de um Anjo” (In the Arms of an Angel), their second solo show at Milan’s Galleria Patricia Armocida. Preview: Ryan McGinley – “Crooked Aisles” @ The Breeder

Athens’ The Breeder graciously sent us some preview images for “Crooked Aisles,” Ryan McGinley’s first solo show in Greece. The exhibition opening January 14 will consist of a varied selection of new and old photographs, including images from McGinley’s summer road trip and “Moonmilk” series, as well as black and white portraits.
