We love the concept behind this group show opening this Saturday, June 20th, at Sloan Fine Art in NY. “+2” sees 24 artists previously exhibited by Alix Sloan invited to participate in the group show, along with 2 other artists of their choice – hence the plus 2 title. AM was on hand at the opening of two great shows at Thinkspace Gallery last week, â€œBeneath The Seamsâ€ from Sarah Joncas and Kelly Vivancoâ€™s â€œThe Conservatory.â€ Fans thoroughly enjoyed each artists’ unique approach towards their portraiture pieces and they also had a great time chatting with Joncas and Vivanco, both of whom were on hand at the opening. A show that kinda snuck up on us, “Harem,” by Jonathan Viner, opens this Saturday at Sloan Fine Art.Â This body of work is a collection of ten 12″ x 12″ paintings of young Russian women listening dreamily to music with high fidelity headphones.Â Rendered perfectly by Viner, each appear to be in their own world, oblivious to their surroundings. L’Imagerie Gallery recently opened “When Worlds Collide,”Â a unique showÂ featuring the work of Chet and James Zar. This marks the first time this father and son combination has ever shown together. Chet Zar is know for his visually dark and eerie subject matter which is a sharp contrast to his father, James Zar’s, fantasy still-life style.
