Teaser: Adam Neate @ Olympia International Art Fair

Adam Neate has a new work titled “The Concert Pianist” and it looks amazing. Check out the background where Adam incorporates an audience using a photograph. His evolution from street artist to fine artist is progressing nicely as this piece is a finalist for the prestigious “Country Life Object of the Year” competition at this year’s Olympia International Art and Antiques Fair being held from June 5th-14th in London. Release Party: Yoskay Yamamoto’s Koibito – LeBasse Projects Colorway

Yoskay Yamamoto’s (interviewed) Koibito release party (announced) took place this past Wednesday at LeBasse Projects. AM arrived at the gallery at 6pm and even though the release party wasn’t scheduled to start until 7pm, there were already about 40 fans waiting outside. In fact, some fans started waiting in line as early as 9am. Once inside the gallery, fans could purchase the white/silver koibito, red/white koibito, postcard sets, “Screaming for the Sunrise” giclee prints and show catalogs. He’s back – after a sold out showing at Ambach & Rice last year, Josh Keyes moves to tackle the Rockies at the David B. Smith Gallery in Denver. As hinted in our studio visit, the new show “Sprout” deals with the ever present tension between nature and the urban landscape. AM stopped by Salon 94 to check out Marilyn Minter’s latest show “Green Pink Caviar.” One of our favorite photographers, Marilyn is again at her best with her signature style of showcasing glamor and its realistic underbelly. Through her unique vision, the viewer is transported to a world of vibrant colors and lusciously sexy subjects. Preview: Tim Biskup – “The Mystic Chords of Memory” @ Iguapop Gallery

Tim Biskup opens his latest solo show “The Mystic Chords of Memory” on June 4th at Iguapop Gallery in Barcelona. The show title, taken from a statement made by Abraham Lincoln during his first inaugural address, represents the newfound focus of Biskup’s energies on the positive and have led to the reemergence of a more vibrant pallete and picturesque imagery in his work which is a strong contrast to the muted colors and expressionless figures from Biskup’s “O/S (Operating System)” show last year. Brendan Monroe (interviewed) was in Santa Monica this past Saturday, May 23rd, for a book signing at Richard Heller Gallery. Recently, we had the opportunity see Brendan in the Bay Area at Park Life and also to check out his studio. Showing: Reinking Urban Art Collection @ Weserburg Museum (Germany)

Hamburg-based collector Rik Reinking is displaying his collection of urban art for all to see at the Weserburg Museum in Germany. The show includes works from Herbert Baglione, Banksy, Blu, Boxi, Brad Downey, Mark Jenkins, Miss Van, Mode 2, Os Gêmeos, Mirko Reisser (DAIM), Shepard Fairey, Space Invader, Swoon, Zevs among others. The exhibition will be supplemented by an attractive supporting program with workshops, walks through town, film evenings, discussions and work in the streets.
