This past weekend, Logan Hicks and Broken Crow (Mike Fitzsimmons & John Grider) opened their “drive-by” show “Broken Horse” for a packed Brooklyn house. Held in a unique venue that once housed the Hamilton Savings & Loan, the art was really the draw. Preview: “Lush Life” Group Show @ Roq La Rue

Another great group show is opening this Friday, May 8th in Seattle at Roq La Rue gallery.Â The show entitled “Lush Life” mixes pieces from some familiar “old-school” artists with some promising new faces.Â We preview some of the paintings after the jump, including pieces from Joe Sorren (seen above), Chris Berens, Mia Araujo, Martin Wittfooth, Kukula, Tin and Glenn Barr.

Australian up-and-comerÂ Melissa Haslam visits Los Angeles for her latest exhibition “Wild Fields”Â at LeBasse Projects opening this Saturday, May 9th, in the gallery’s project room. Her interesting use of independent girls and hauntingly beautiful botanic backdrops has caused quite a buzz with fans and collectors. Yoskay Yamamotoâ€™s (interviewed) latest body of work “Hello and Goodbye” (previewed) will open this Saturday, May 9th, at LeBasse Projects. Yoskay has been heads-down for the better part of 2009 crafting an intricate series of paintings for what looks to be a tremendous exhibition. AM’s whirlwind Los Angeles art show weekend capped off with a trip to New Image Art for the â€œOcto Pussesâ€ group exhibition, which featured the work of Aaron Johnson, Antonio Diaz, Ben Jones, Cleon Peterson, Gino Perez, Judith Supine (studio visit) and Neck Face. With Audrey Kawasaki’s (interviewed) show in Japan fast approaching, we would like to pass on the information about her two newest print releases. The first is an exclusive print for her show at Space Yui entitled “Carry On” (seen above). AM stopped by Nucleus Gallery couple weekends ago to check out the art and festivities of the Street Fighter Tribute show. The video game inspired art certainly delighted the crowd, but just as entertaining were the events associated with the show like the cosplay contest and the street fighter playing tournament.
