Basel Week Miami ’16 / Openings: Fabien Castanier Gallery Popup Exhibition

The Bogota and Los Angeles-based Fabien Castanier Gallery used Basel Week Miami as an opportunity to show their roster of urban artists to the art-thirsty crowd in Wynwood with a popup exhibition. Displayed in two large spaces in the vibrant neighborhood, the exhibition also served as a teaser of what they will are planning for their upcoming Miami gallery location scheduled to open next year. Placed right on the beach, Untitled art fair has sligtly different vibe than the rest of the satelite fairs of Basel Week Miami. This year’s edition of the Pulse Art Fair at Indian Beach Park once again proved the reputation of the fair as one of the worthy satellite fairs of Basel Week Miami. Including over 70 galleries and their 200 artists, the fair featured new works from galleries all the way from Colombia, Spain, China to Japan. Basel Week Miami ’16: Juxtapoz Clubhouse

One of the venues jam-packed with goodness during Basel Week Miami was the Juxtapoz Clubhouse, a special project in conjunction between the magazine and Mana Urban Arts Project. The immersive artist retreat and exhibition space in the Wynwood District features collaborations with different artists, galleries and creatives. Encompassing two large spaces with all exclusive art on view, the event will run until December 4th. One of the highly anticipated satellite fairs every year during Basel Week Miami for us is the Scope Art Fair. The 16th edition of the fair returns to the sandy shores of shores of Ocean Drive with 125 international exhibitors from 22 countries and 57 cities showing their wares. His newest piece I lost my shoe when I saw you is now adorning a four story building in centerl West Palm Beach as the biggest mural produced for the Canvas Festival. After hosting a solo show by Tomoo Gokita last year (covered), Bill Brady picked three artists for a small group showing during this year’s Basel Week Miami. Fountain Of Youth includes very different but exciting works by Greg Bogin, Tony Matelli & Erik Parker and opened on November 29th. Upcoming: Lazarides’ Banksy Print Gallery @ Mondrian Hotel (London)

Tomorrow (December 2nd) in London, Lazarides will be opening a Banksy Print Gallery at the Mondrian Hotel. Specializing in selling limited editions from the infamous street artist on the secondary market, the space in South Bank will also feature a collection of photographs as well as ephemera from that period of time. Basel Week Miami ’16 / Releases: KAWS – “PIRANHAS WHEN YOU’RE SLEEPING” Print @ Pace Prints

Those who walked by the Pace Prints booth at Art Basel Miami Beach (covered) may have been surprised to see a new print available from KAWS. Entitled PIRANHAS WHEN YOU’RE SLEEPING, the image is taken from a piece the Brooklyn-based artist painted for a show back in 2014 in the Caribbean (covered).
