In association with his current DY5TOPIA show at Copro Gallery, Chet Zar (interviewed) has released a new print entitled The Meeting. Based on a painting from the exhibition of the same name, the image shows a group of the Los Angeles-based artist’s creepy characters getting together to discuss some secret objective. Produced in a run of 55, there is an offer to personalize the 19″ x 13″ giclée with a drawing by Zar tomorrow Saturday, October 29, at the gallery if ordered online for $100 before the signing (3-7 pm). Tonight (7pm) at Strand Books in New York, Lisa Yuskavage will be launching her comprehensive new monograph – The Brood. Released through David Zwirner Books, whose associated gallery she showed at back in June (covered), the 242 page hardcover features work from 1991 – 2015. Psychedelic Space is the soon to be released book from Kelsey Brookes from Gingko Press that explores his last three years of work. The 216 page hardcover documents his more recent paintings, spanning four solo shows, the explosive patterns that are his artistic vision of molecular structures of the psychedelic nature. On the afternoon of Saturday, May 31, FriendsWithYou celebrated the release of their We Are FriendsWithYou book, published by Rizzoli. The live signing event happened in their hometown of Los Angeles, at MOCA Grand Ave, with fans and friends of all ages. FriendsWithYou’s We Are FriendsWithYou has been released by publisher Rizzoli, and to celebrate, the duo of Samuel Borkson and Arturo Sandoval III will be signing books and providing fans with an interactive experiential installation in MOCA’s Grand Ave courtyard. Tonight (March 7th) in the Philippines, Gary Baseman’s (interviewed) will be opening a show at Vinyl on Vinyl entitled Play With Us Or Else. Along with paintings, art toys, and costumed fun, the Los Angeles-based artist will also be signing the catalogue from his first museum retrospective, The Door Is Always Open, held at the Skirball Cultural Center last year. Saturday evening, Park Life hosted an exhibition and book signing of Andrew Schoultz’s book, Up in the Air (previewed). The show featured an array of original and editioned works, as well as an installation that expanded one of his larger paintings onto the gallery wall.
