Yesterday, we headed down to Coachella, not the annual music and arts festival, but to the city itself. Despite the associated name of the huge yearly revenue source nearby, the taxes go to the city of Indio with the actual city of Coachella remaining a poor farming community. Aaron Li-Hill – “Here Now” @ Portsmouth Museum of Art

A couple weekends ago, the Portsmouth Museum of Art hosted a two day only event entitled Here Now. The showcase featured the work of Aaron Li-Hill and Judith Ann Braun, who both produced site specific installations. For his part, the New York-based Li-Hill created one of his kinetic fencer murals, augmented by a loosely constructed scaffold of material. On April 3rd, Camille Rose Garcia (interviewed) opened her latest solo show at Roq la Rue, titled La Danse Macabre, which translates to Dance of Death, a theme originated in the late middle ages to remind us that no one escapes the hand of death. American artist Mark Jenkins opened his second solo with Ruttkowski;68 gallery in Cologne on Friday night. On Friday, 4th of April, Wunderkammern Gallery in Rome opened the first Italian solo show by Aakash Nihalani. Streets: Aryz (Austria)

Spanish muralist Aryz recently spent few days in Linz, Austria, working on this gigantic piece titled Overprotected. The painting of the mural was organized by Bubbledays, a wakeboard, music, and streetart festival happening from the 13th to 14th of June, and was created in the Linz harbor area where the event will take place. Coming up on April 11th, the Brooklyn Museum will be presenting a new large-scale installation from Swoon (interviewed), whom we just visited in studio earlier this year. Entitled Submerged Motherlands, the epic site-specific creation will be housed in the Iris and B. Last weekend, we had the opportunity to attend the opening of a show from New York graffiti legend STASH (featured).
