Last week, KAWS announced his latest project, a collaboration with Nancy Gonzalez on a handbag collection. Continuing his foray into the fashion world (also see Uniqlo & Mira Mikati), the Brooklyn-based artist lent his iconic double x’s to the Colombian designer known for her handbags of exotic leathers and brightly colored hues. On June 25th, Thinkspace Gallery opened New Works, a double solo by artists Jeremy Fish and Jim Houser. Both artist built their careers through their love for drawing, music and skate culture, creating influential and distinctive works and graphics along the way. This show introduces their latest bodies of work. Featuring their signature styles and recognizable concepts, the fresh pieces are the results of years of drawing and keeping up with the subcultures they grew up with. In May, we shared with you the amazing takeover by JR (interviewed) at the famous Louvre in Paris where he pasted over the iconic pyramid using photographs of the surrounding structures. Looking at the right angle, it appeared that the pyramid in the main courtyard “disappears” from sight. Who better to collaborate with next in an inception-like project than with China’s disappearing man – Liu Bolin? Openings: KAWS – “BFF” @ Central Embassy (Bangkok)

A couple of days ago, Central Embassy in Bangkok unveiled the latest large-scale sculpture from KAWS, standing 8 meters tall outside their complex. Produced with the help of curator AllRightsReserved, the event also featured a plush version of the figure, which looked to be a cross between Elmo & The Cookie Monster, remixed the the Brooklyn-based artist’s double-x eyes and skull & cross bones. If you are a fan of Takashi Murakami and have visited Japan in the past, you may have made a stop at Bar Zingaro, the spirits section that connects his galleries in the Nakano Broadway mall in Tokyo. He now has his own line of sake to serve his customers with the recent release of a collaboration with NEXT5 Sake. All the different versions of bottles are adorned with the Japanese artist’s signature flower motif, but the ceramic bottles will come in three colors (gold ones signed by the artist himself). We recently visited the studio of painter Mike Dargas as he prepares for his upcoming solo show at Opera Gallery in London from 6 – 20 July (curated by Jean-David Malat). Born in 1983 in Cologne, he started drawing and making paintings with oil paint from a very young age. Dutch Flower Painting Recreated With Real Flowers (London)

Along with an exhibition celebrating Dutch flower paintings of the early 17th and late 18th century, the National Gallery in London has also organized an installation made out of flowers on their front facade. Created out of 25,000 blooms by the Flower Council of Holland, the piece is a recreation of A Still Life of Flowers in a Wan-Li Vase by Dutch artist Ambrosius Bosschaert the Elder. Art Focus: Severija Inčirauskaitė-Kriaunevičienė

Continuing her series of works featuring a novel method of embroidering metal objects, Severija Inčirauskaitė-Kriaunevičienė has recently decided to apply her unique technique to war helmets. The Lithuanian artist, who is choice of our next Art Focus article, recently exhibited these pieces at Art Vilnius 2016 where she was awarded for best installation at the fair. Streets: Barbara Kruger // High Line (New York)

Joining the plethora of artists that have had art visible from the High Line in New York, Barbara Kruger unveiled a mural she designed earlier this year (and on view through March 2017).
