Openings: Seen – “OLD NEW YORK” @ Buckshot Gallery

A couple weekends ago, Buckshot Gallery in Los Angeles opened a solo show from graffiti legend SEEN. OLD NEW YORK features a series of abstract works on canvas as well as free-hand graffiti works that he created while in Paris, including a nice touch of using unexpected materials such as metal frames from the Parisian rooftops. As anticipated, the reception saw an outpouring of support from fans as well as local writers and graffiti artists. Photo credit: Birdman Photos.

Releases: Kozyndan // Pangeaseed – “Celestial Bodies” Print

Continuing their partnership with Pangeaseed, artistic duo Kozyndan recently released a new print entitled Celestial Bodies. Their love for the oceans is well known, so this this whimsical piece revisiting their riff on the narwhal is a perfect project to collaborate on with the for-benefit company trying to help to save the seas through ocean-inspired art. On March 12th, fans in Los Angeles are in for a treat as Eric Yahnker will be opening his first solo in the area in nearly three years. Entitled Noah’s Yacht, the exhibition hosted by Zevitas Marcus will feature all new graphite and colored pencil drawings from the locally-based artist. Showing a sharp wit when delving into his favorite subject matters of pop culture and politics, Yahnker brings a special brand of irreverence and satire. Recap: Vincent Van Gogh Flower Parade (Netherlands)

If you are the birthplace of Vincent Van Gogh, you are allowed to commemorate the 125th anniversary of his death in style. Zundert, a small town in the Netherlands near the Belgian border dedicated their annual celebration, the world’s largest volunteer-run flower parade to the influential Dutch post-Impressionist painter. On February 19th, Chandran Gallery in San Francisco will be presenting Witch-Wife, a two person show from Swoon (interviewed) and long time collaborator Monica Canilao. The title of the show refers to a woman who practices witchcraft as well as is a nod to the longstanding artistic relationship between the duo.
