Openings: BEYOND THE STREETS (Los Angeles)

Last weekend, an expansive collection of paintings, sculptures, and site-specific installations was revealed at BEYOND THE STREETS in Los Angeles (1667 N Main St). Streets: Stephen “ESPO” Powers (Miami)

Stephen Powers recently shared photos of a massive mural he painted at The Carlton Hotel in Miami, directly behind The Betsy Hotel. Provided with a blank wall and all the spray paint he could want, the Brooklyn-based artist also know as ESPO covered the facade with his distinctive wordplay and witty “Espoetry.” Take a further look at the details in the images below… Discuss ESPO here.

Basel Week Miami ’13 / Openings: “Most Oddinism” @ The Rotunda

Another interesting exhibition that occured during Art Basel Week was entitled Most Oddinism located at The Rotunda, just a block from a number of fairs such as Miami Projects, Art Miami & Context in Miami’s Downtown district. This group show featured the works by many familiar artists you’ve seen here at AM including Aaron De La Cruz, Christopher Derek Bruno, Ben Eine, Kenji Hirata Anthony Lister, Otto Zitko, Patrick Martinez (seen above), ESPO and Roid. Streets: ESPO (Copenhagen) – Part 2

After bringing you an in-progress look at the massive mural Stephen Powers was working on in front of the U.S. Embassy in Copenhagen last week, we now have photos of the completed wraparound piece to share. Streets: ESPO (Copenhagen) – Part 1

It looks like ESPO (featured) is back in Copenhagen (see 2011) for an artist talk and the European premiere of his documentary film A Love Letter For You. Along with this event presented by V1 Gallery and held at (Kunsthal Charlottenborg. Nyhavn 2. Copenhagen K – Denmark) on November 5th from 6:30 – 8:30 pm, Steve Powers is also in town to paint a new large-scale mural in front of the U.S. Embassy. Last week, fans of ESPO (featured) in Brussels were treated to a new solo from the New York-based artist when Visual Blues opened up at the Alice Gallery. The new body of work centered around a series of small pieces he paints daily called Metaltations as well as larger versions of those pieces.
