Previews: Steven Harrington – “Magic Hour” (Los Angeles popup)

On April 13th, Steven Harrington will be unveiling his latest body of work to his fans in Los Angeles with a show entitled Magic Hour. Featuring new paintings & drawings, the frenetic compositions feature some familiar motifs and characters from the California-based artist’s oeuvre, all rendered with a vibrant color palette. Recap: POW! WOW! Long Beach 2018

POW! WOW! Long Beach finished up the public art for 2018 at the end of last month with another series of great murals and installations for fans of art in the Southern California city. Showing: Steven Harrington – “Wavy Days” @ Colette

At the end of last month, colette in Paris opened a show from Steven Harrington entitled Wavy Days. The selection of recent paintings, prints, drawings, and sculpture were a therapeutic means for the American artist to deal with his struggles with anxiety, a channelling of that worrisome energy into playful cartoons and humor. Harrington also painted a mural at the store of two interlocking palm trees, a motif that can be seen throughout the new body of work. Discuss Steven Harrington here.

Starting on August 31st, colette in Paris will have a selection of recent paintings, prints, drawings, and sculpture from Steven Harrington on display. The untimely recent passing of Justin Van Hoy has had an huge impact on the artistic community he was associated with. The Los Angeles based gallerist, artist and designer sadly lost his long battle with cancer in November shortly after his book Milk and Honey: Contemporary Art in California was published. Openings: Steven Harrington – “Insideout” @ Known Gallery

Currently showing at the Known Gallery in Los Angeles through this weekend are the works of Steven Harrington. Insideout is the first exhibition held in his hometown of Los Angeles since 2009 from the artist and designer, also known for co-founding both the design agency National Forest and pop-art brand You&I. The new body of work consists of a collection of drawings, paintings, prints, and sculptures (including his biggest ever – seen above) that reflect Harrington’s artistic journey of discovery and his desire to share it with others.
