Releases / Update: Faile – “Wood Faile Flag” & “Scuba Horse” Bronze Sculpture

With a hugely successful 2010 in the rear-view mirror, which included their blowout solo Bedtime Stories, the release of their first all inclusive book, a fun remix of a video game arcade in NYC and London, and their insane Temple constructed in Lisbon, Brooklyn-based artistic duo Faile (featured) have a set of intriguing releases to get 2011 rolling scheduled for today at 12PM EST. Streets / Openings: Gaia in Chicago & “Resplendent Semblance” @ Maxwell Colette Gallery

In preparation for his newest exhibition, which opened last weekend, Gaia went to town on The Windy City with his intricate animal centric wheat paste creations. With well over ten pieces located in various Chicago neighborhoods, the street artist has created a virtual playground for local art fans. His impressive outdoor efforts were set upon the backdrop of Resplendent Semblance, an exhibition of gallery work hosted by Maxwell Colette Gallery. Not only was a selection of his more traditional decollage works on wood on display, […]

Things are revving up in Los Angeles as we draw near to the MOCA’s historic Art in the Streets show. Teaser: Futura 2000 – “New Works” @ Galerie Jerome de Noirmont (Paris)

Gearing up for his first solo exhibition since Odyssey Two (covered) in Berlin back in 2009, Futura has now targeted his iconic spray wizardry on The City of Lights. Aside from a few product designs in recent memory, the last major artistic endeavor we witnessed from the Godfather of abstract street art was an awe inspiring NYC mural produced in collaboration with Os Gemeos last summer. Opening Friday, May 27th at Galerie Jerome de Noirmont, New Works will provide Parisian art enthusiasts the rare opportunity […]

Streets: Conor Harrington x Vhils (Lisbon)

Reminiscent of the fantastic JR x Vhils collaboration we witnessed in LA during the Eurotrash invasion last year, it looks like Vhils has busted out his tools again and has hooked up with another street artist for a project. As you know from our feature his recent piece in Lisbon, Conor Harrington’s (interviewed) was in town and apparently also put up this piece with some of Vhils’ special techniques although the effects weren’t as evident as the JR collab, perhaps since it was not as […]

Steal From Work (the guys that put on the 12 Days of Christmas and Not a Penny More group shows in Bristol) put on their first show in two years on Bristol’s busy Park Street. The production entitled Flogging a Dead Horse promised to be “a group show featuring the best (and worst) urban street contemporary artists in the world” and at first glance they really were true to their words. People wandering in were impressed by original canvases by the likes of Banksy, Hirst, […]
