Streets: Blu in Lima

As always, AM is right on top of what Blu is up to, no matter where in the world he is. After finishing two incredible murals in Bogota, the artist hopped on a plane to Lima, where he got straight to work on yet another amazing piece. Writes Blu of the shot above, “the ossuary background is ready”, so we’re excited to see if there’s more to come. Check out some more progress shots after the jump.

JR @ Abu Dhabi Art Fair

Looks like intrepid traveler, JR, added Abu Dhabi on the list of places he has visited with his street photography. To coincide with the annual Abu Dhabi Art Fair, the french wheatpaster was asked to create a large scale installation for the increasingly art-infused capital of the arab emirate. Openings: “Inside Out, Outside In” @ Museu de Arte de São Paulo

Last week, the fantastic “Inside Out, Outside In” group show at the Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP) opened its doors showcasing work from six Brazilian street artists Titi Freak, Zezão, Stephan Doitschinoff, Ramon Martins, Carlos Dias and Daniel Melim. Luckily, our correspondent Layla K was on hand to document the exhibition curated by Choque Cultural featuring paintings, murals, and large-scale installations. More pics after the jump…

Off The Roll Tape Sculpture Contest

AM has long admired the work of Mark Jenkins, and in particular, his tape sculptures. Apparently 3M (maker of Scotch brand tape) has also taken notice and will hold a contest to see who can come up with the most creative use of the popular adhesive with a $5000 cash prize no less. Streets: Poster Boy x The Decapitator

Things have been pretty quiet for Poster Boy since his show with the Neo-Con Collective at the Carmichael Gallery in April (covered). But, a couple new pieces have shown up in New York where he teamed up with the Decapitator to “modify” a some phonebooth ads. Another example of how they feel about advertising after the jump.

Much anticipated show The Thousands (previewed) opened with great success on Wednesday, November 18th. From the outdoor murals gracing the exterior of Village Underground to the thoughtfully curated collection of artwork within, RJ Rushmore’s debut exhibition highlights some of the strongest representatives of the street art scene. Openings and Benefit: Juxtapoz 15th Anniversary Auction & Party

The much anticipated Juxtapoz 15th Anniversary party (previewed) went off this past Saturday and drew over 2,000 art lovers to the newly remodeled Factory Place Arts Complex in downtown Los Angeles. Mister Cartoon had all his classic rides out on display in the outside area as well as a beautiful chopper and his show-stopping pimped out Ice Cream truck inside with the rest of the art on display.
