Zevs Arrested Ahead of “Liquidated Logos” Show @ Art Statements Gallery (Hong Kong)

As has been reported on several websites and confirmed by Dominique Perregaux, owner of Art Statements Gallery, French street artist Zevs has been arrested for “bombing” a Chanel logo in Central, Hong Kong.Â He was apparently demonstrating to the residents of HK his famous technique ahead of his aptly named show “Liquidated Logos” at Art Statements Gallery this Thursday night. AM has been very impressed by Vhils’ first UK solo show “Scratching The Surface“, which recently opened at Lazarides Rathbone Place. A video has just been released which documents the artist’s process of installation in the gallery. Over the weekend, AM attended the opening of two shows at New York’s Joshua Liner Gallery. In the front gallery was Yumiko Kayukawa’s “God from the East,” which consists of a new collection of small- and medium-sized paintings. Kayukawa’s work blends modern and traditional aspects of Japanese culture with a colorful, playful style.Â In gallery two, Vancouver-based artist Ben Tour is exhibiting a selection of dark and free-flowing portraits of women on canvas and paper, as well as a large-scale mural. Update/Video: Os Gemeos Mural in NYC

Last week, we brought you some images of the beginnings of an epic mural that the Brazilian brothers Os Gemeos were working on in NY. Here is a video of how it looks at about midpoint. Just as Shepard Fairey resolved his legal troubles in Boston, it appears the his case with the AP has taken an interesting turn. Mannie Garcia, the original photographer of the infamous Obama image used by Fairey now appears to want a piece of the action. Openings: EINE – “The A – Z of Change” @ Carmichael Gallery

AM enjoyed the intense visual experience of EINE’s Los Angeles debut solo show “The A – Z of Change” (previewed) which opened at Carmichael Gallery this past Thursday. The buffet of vibrant colored squares strewn across the walls served as the perfect backdrop for his amazing canvas pieces and the powerful imagery contained therein. After his amazing debutÂ Los Angeles solo show, Israeli street artist Know Hope made his way over to the Big Apple and worked a pretty sick street mural at the Hotel Chelsea that was commissioned by No Longer Empty. Luckily for us, all the action was caught on the time-lapse video above. Discuss Know Hope here.
