Preview: Armory Week ’11 – Rebaroque Artist Series Sound Wall @ Scope New York

A special project taking place at this year’s Scope New York art fair is the Rebaroque Artist Series Sound Wall, a collaborative audio/visual installation featuring Rebaroque sound panels—art and design objects created from vintage fabrics and frames that include speakers through which you can play sound or music from an iPod or other device. Openings: Tara McPherson – “The Bunny in the Moon” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

A couple of Saturdays back, Tara McPherson captivated the NY crowd with a beautiful new body of work entitled “The Bunny in the Moon” at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery. The show consisted of a series of paintings featuring her lovely ladies with their animal friends and a wall installation of one-eyed flower sculptures, all rendered mostly in her signature pink and light blue. Jonathan LeVine Gallery will be hosting Tara McPherson’s newest body of work this Saturday night when her solo show “The Bunny in the Moon” opens. Babelgum took time to stop by her studio leading up to the show and interview Tara about the new paintings. Featured next month in New York at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery will be the bittersweet art from the “Queen of Hearts” Tara McPherson. We’ll be looking forward to seeing what adventures are in store for her signature redheads with their heart motifs (see Dr. Sketchy session), but we’re sure the new body of work will also bring some other surprises for her fans. Releases: Final “LOST” Prints

Teaser: “Playboy Redux” @ the Warhol Museum

The 50th Anniversary of the first Playboy Club opening in in 1960 will be celebrated in style at the Warhol Museum at the end of this month.  Artists including Gary Baseman (featured), Tim Biskup, Shag (interviewed), Frank Kozik, Andrew Schoultz, SEEN, and of course Tara McPherson have been asked to reinterpret the iconic Playboy Bunny for the exhibition. The show will open on March 27th with a special pajama party and then to the general public starting March 28th. Discuss this show here.

Dr. Sketchy Anti-Art School with Tara McPherson

We can’t seem to get enough of Tara McPherson and Molly Crabapple since drawing along side them at Baby Tattooville in the Riverside Art Museum (covered). So, AM decided to stop by and get in a little schooling with a special edition of NYC’s Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School featuring none other than our friend Tara McPherson. For this special session a “life drawing” model was transformed into a beautiful & seductive “Lonely Heart” siren.
