Showing: Tauba Auerbach – “Tetrachromat” @ WIELS

Last month, Tauba Auerbach’s traveling exhibition Tetrachromat reached its stop in Belgium at Wiels Contemporary Art Center. Fans of the New York-based artist’s exquisite work in other parts of Europe like Bergern Kunsthall in Norway in 2011 (covered) and to Malmö Konsthall in Sweden in 2012 already had their chance to witness it in person – now it’s Brussels’ chance. On March 22nd, the New York-based Tauba Auerbach will be putting her paintings on display at the unique contemporary art institution – WIELS  – in Belgium. Tetrachromat, which opened at Bergern Kunsthall in Norway in 2011 (covered), traveled to Malmö Konsthall in Sweden in 2012, will now soon be on view at the Wiels Contemporary Art Center. Teaser: Tauba Auerbach – “Float” @ Paula Cooper

Tonight in New York, the Paula Cooper Gallery will be hosting Tauba Auerbach’s first one-person exhibition at the gallery entitled Float. The NY-based artist will be unveiling new Fold paintings alongside a new series of Weave paintings, presented for the first time in the United States. Also on display will be new photographs and sculptural objects, including Onyx, a deconstructed material volume printed and bound in book form. We recently attended a party at New York’s Printed Matter to celebrate the long-awaited release of Tauba Auerbach’s [2,3]. The small, artist-book shop was filled to capacity that night with people eager to pick up their pre-ordered copies, those curious to see the final product for themselves and others just wanting to wish the artist congratulations on a job well done.
