Streets / Recap: North West Walls 2017

Last month, the 2017 edition of North West Walls (see 2016) wrapped up with new work from this year’s roster. Hoxxoh, Phlegm, Astro, Telmo Miel, Emmanuel Jarus, and Smates were invited in to painted stacked containers, a unique backdrop of the yearly summer rock festival in Belgium, Rock Werchter. Streets: Telmo Miel – “Trollstigen” (Norway)

Recently in Gol, Norway, a new mural was painted by Telmo Miel entitled appropriately entitled Trollstigen. The Dutch duo explain – “They come in all shapes and sizes. Trolls, Beings from Norse mythology and Scandinavian folklore. Till this day they’re still being hunted by tourists, trying to get a glimpse of one of these creatures.” Discuss Telmo Miel here.

Openings: “Flourish” @ Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum

Over the weekend, the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum in Arizona hosted the opening of Flourish, a group show curated by Thinkspace Gallery. Over 100 artists contributed to the exhibition but the standouts for us were the murals from Esao Andrews and Nosego as well as a sweet hanging installation from Felipe Pantone. POW! WOW! ’17 / Streets: Recap

After showing you some in-progress shots and some sneak peeks of the massive amount of work in progress on the streets of Kakaako, we now have a recap of many of the walls and public interventions that were created for POW! WOW! Hawaii. This year’s event had locations that were more compact and centrally located, leading to a more easily navigated set of murals. POW! WOW! Hawaii ’17: Walking The Streets (Part 1)

When the call comes from POW! WOW! Hawaii for an artist to join the festivities, oftentimes it doesn’t take long for them to say YES! Streets: Telmo Miel // UGANGprosjektet (Norway)

Recently in Drammen, Noway, artistic duo Telmo Miel painted a mural entitled Når jeg blir Stor or When I Grow Up for the UGANGprosjektet. Referencing the country’s viking roots, the piece was the second one the two painted on their trip (first one here). Tomorrow night (February 27th) at Thinkspace Gallery, a show will be opening featuring the work of artistic duos known for their work on the streets.
