Last week, the V1 Gallery in Copenhagen opened up Free To be You & Me, a new solo from the Todd James. Opening Friday night (October 5th) in Copenhagen at the V1 Gallery, Free To be You & Me is the newest solo show from Todd James. The imagery in this new body work continues to be dominated by his colorful chain-smoking pirate characters, brandishing weapons and causing mischief. The NY graf legend, otherwise known as REAS, will also be installing a recreation of the Vandal’s Bedroom (seen above) that premiered at the Art In The Streets exhibition at the MOCA in Los Angeles. Releases / Publications: Todd “REAS” James – “Yield to Temptation” @ The Standard (NY)

Fans of the New York-based Todd James will be able to greet their hometown hero 6-8 pm on Thursday night (September 20th) at The Standard in New York where he will be releasing his new book – Yield to Temptation. The NYC legend, otherwise known as REAS, will have original candy sculptures on view as well as will be available to sign the new publication, which includes images of 60 of his drawings featuring his cartoon-like graffiti style, all created exclusively for the volume. A couple weeks ago in Toronto, the newly renamed Cooper Cole Gallery hosted the opening for Brothers of the Weird. Following his recent installation in London Smithfield market (covered here), German artist EVOL and a full supporting cast of artists took over Pictures on Walls for the Christmas show with installations, sculptures, books and limited edition prints. On Saturday afternoon, Steve “ESPO” Powers and Todd “REAS” James hosted an dizzying one-day reinterpretation of their legendary Street Market exhibition, without Barry McGee, at ICY Signs in Brooklyn. ICY was Powers and crew’s 5400 sq. feet downtown sign-painting studio on Livingston Street while working on his Brooklyn Love Letters project (covered).
