Usugrow and fellow Shinganist artist, Toshikazu Nozaka recently reprised their 2-man show at Melbourne’s Backwoods Gallery. Usugrow has again created a few new drawings combining flowing lines, skulls, stipple and a self invented caligraphy, and is still able to incorporate them in a new way that keeps his work fresh and progressive. Japanese artist Usugrow, best known for his collaborative projects with Upper Playground and Vans, debuted his latest project “Shinganist” at FIFTY24SF last night. Featuring the paintings, sculpture and drawing of Bene, Mozyskey, Toshikazu Nozaka and Jun Kaneko, “Shinganist” is an intriguing look into the work of some of Japan’s up-and-coming young artists.
