After releasing his first sculptural edition last year, Josh Keyes (interviewed) is already working on another two to the delight of his collectors. Based off two of his complimentary paintings The Hermit & Migratory Soul, the two figures are already are in their protoype form. An avid collector himself, the American singer, songwriter, and producer has lent his expertise to the exhibition dedicated to the rise of the “art toy.” As referenced in the title of the show, the Canadian museum seeks to examine the fine line between art and design object. After releasing large scale versions of his most iconic character and creating one off customs (here, here, and here), Joe Ledbetter has slowly been releasing production versions of his beloved bunny. The latest in his line of Chaos Bunnies is the Astro Zombie Bunny, set for release at the fast approaching SDCC. After speaking out against a bootleg figure stylized after his massive Passing Through Companion sculpture, KAWS has announced the officially release of his own vinyl sculpt. If you remember the impressive piece was first seen in Hong Kong, followed up by a showing at The Aldrich, then at in NY at The Standard Hotel, followed by an appearance at his museum show in Atlanta, and finally at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. For the completists out there (see original colorway) or those that just want new figure from KAWS that is a remix of one of his classic characters, you may be interested to hear that that the Mono and Black versions of his Resting Place Companion is set to be released.
