French artist Bom.K, member of the infamous DMV crew, recently finished working on his first edition of Aérotik sculptures. These collectible figures are entirely handmade by the artist himself, from its conception, creation to packaging. Going back to his comic book roots, James Jean (interviewed) revealed a project over the weekend at New York Comic Con that he has been working on with Good Smile. The Japanese manufacturer of hobby products is teaming up with Nickelodeon and Jean to create new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures based on his illustrations. After releasing his first sculptural edition last year, Josh Keyes (interviewed) is already working on another two to the delight of his collectors. An avid collector himself, the American singer, songwriter, and producer has lent his expertise to the exhibition dedicated to the rise of the “art toy.” As referenced in the title of the show, the Canadian museum seeks to examine the fine line between art and design object. The latest in his line of Chaos Bunnies is the Astro Zombie Bunny, set for release at the fast approaching SDCC.
