Openings: “Juxtapoz x Superflat” @ Vancouver Art Gallery

Three months since its debut at the Seattle Art Fair (covered), the Juxtapoz x Superflat group show co-curated by Juxtapoz editor, Evan Pricco and Takashi Murakami opened on the November 5th at the Vancouver Art Gallery. Staying on view until February 5th, the programming included a mixture of talks, lectures, tours, and special guests. Showing: Ai Weiwei – “F Grass” Installation @ Vancouver Biennale

China’s most notorious artist and social activist, Ai Weiwei, recently introduced a new public piece created exclusively for the Vancouver Biennale. F Grass is a site specific piece currently exhibited in Harbour Green Park, Vancouver, that is composed of 1328 tufts of iron grass. Totaling 182 square meters, this installation shows letter F, constructed of oversized grass tufts. Streets: Os Gemeos (Vancouver) – Final

After roughly three weeks of intense work, Os Gemeos recently finished their new mural for the Vancouver Biennale (Part I, Part II). The six large silos they painted on Granville Island continues their ongoing series of large murals titled Giants, and is now officially their biggest one to date. Covering the entire 70-foot (21 metre) tall structure, this incredible piece of work is their contribution to Biennale’s strong connection with sculpture. Although it has only been several days since we first reported on the start of a massive new 3D mural that Os Gemeos are working on for the Vancouver Biennale, twin brothers Gustavo and Otavio Pandolfo have already made huge progress on this project. Os Gemeos are currently in Vancouver working on an impressive outdoor project organized by the Vancouver Biennale. Painting six large silos, on the full 360 degree surface covering 23,500 square feet (7,162 square metres), this is going to be their biggest mural to date, and their first one in Canada.
