Streets: Onejessa (Sydney)

Onejessa recently completed a rooftop mural on top of the Hibernian House in Sydney’s CBD. The piece is a larger than life reproduction of a mixed media piece from her latest collection Violent Harmonies that will be exhibited starting the 14th of March at M2 gallery. Using diverse painting techniques, the Australian artist constructs opulent assemblages of collages which are sometimes immortalized inside transparent resin. Recap: Cai Guo-Qiang – “Color Mushroom Cloud” @ University of Chicago

Earlier this month, Cai Guo-Qiang launched one of his explosive new works in Chicago that he entitled Color Mushroom Cloud. Realized at exactly December 2, 3:25pm CST, the timing of the 75 meter tall piece coincided with the 75th year anniversary of the first controlled, self sustained nuclear chain reaction at the same location at the University of Chicago. Showing: JR – “Mind the Gap” @ Château La Coste

Currently at Château La Coste in France, JR (interviewed) has an exhibition on view featuring a nifty installation that is a play on some of his most well-known works like his Women Are Heroes project in Kenya. Entitled Mind the Gap, the piece in the Renzo Piano Pavilion features a series of hanging circular tracks that have miniature trains running in different directions, all pasted with the French artist’s photographs. Aaron De La Cruz recently collaborated on a capsule collection with Hex featuring duffel bags, backpacks, and a phone case. The resulting items mix the brand’s sleek products with the Bay Area-based artist’s signature geometric style that fans of public art will be familiar with. At the end of September, the people behind POW! WOW! Hawaii held their event celebrating culture, music and art in a new country – South Korea. Spanish artist Okuda recently collaborated with Flamingo to design a pair of sunglasses featuring his distinctive aesthetic. The shaded spectacles (available here for 95.00€) feature the prolific street artist’s signature colors & patterns on the frames. Installation: Faith XLVII & Lyall Sprong – “Astronomy Nova”

During the recent Artscape Festival in Sweden, Faith XLVII teamed up with Lyall Sprong to create an immersive site specific installation set deep in the Värmland forest. Depicting the moon glowing and rotating within the tall trees, this piece is another example of how the South African-born artist is stepping further away from the classic street/urban art niche.
