One of the more interesting artists from Lazarides, Jonathan Yeo, just released a video featuring some of his recent work; his porn collages in particular. He discusses the origins of his technique, the process, and interesting “finishing touches” that he needs to find for each of his pieces. Besides the video, there are two other bits of news from Yeo. The first is that as of yesterday, a new series of 30 original works, entitled “Ode to Autumn” was made available at the Shop at […]

This year’s Biennale de Lyon will be opening soon with the theme of “The Spectacle of Everyday.” Curated by SF based Hou Hanru, it’s not surprising that this year Barry McGee will be participating in the annual art event in Lyon, the second largest metropolitan area (behind Paris) in the heart of France (Sept 16th – Jan 3rd). Fame Festival: Blu Time-Lapse

Remember that mural we told you about that Blu worked on at the Fame Festival several weeks ago? Well, there is a nice video out now that shows the time-lapse of him working the massive political statement. With the opening only a week away, we can’t wait to see all the finished street and gallery pieces from all the artists, but we are especially interested to see if the “graffiti-animation” Blu is working on can match the energy of “Muto.” Discuss Blu here. Discuss the FAME […]

Video: The London Police – “Brothers in Arms” Preview

AM stopped by Carmichael Gallery on Friday to check in on Chaz and Bob (The London Police) and their newest show “Brothers in Arms” (teased). We were surprise to see them handcuffed together as they went about finishing up their paintings and setting up their show (some of their best work to date by the way).  Suffice it to say that it will make it interesting in the days leading up to the opening next Thursday night.  We’ll have more on our little visit later […]

Edwin Ushiro is making his bid for collectors to take notice on a jam-packed week of art coming up. With big shows almost everyday starting on Wednesday, an artist really has to bring his “A game” to get some love this week. Luckily, judging from what we have seen and by the trailer video by Modus Films for “Softly Encompassing the Womb,” Ushiro has done just that. With his unique blend of Hawaiian and Japanese aesthetics, his vibrant paintings are a breath of fresh air […]
